Life Isn't Fair (Not Your Typical Werewolf Story)

As we approach the hideout .Dad slow down in order to avoid drawing the attention of our enemies should they be close by . I notice that our guards who are supposed to be protecting the hideout are not in their assigned position. Yet there are no signs of fighting .

"There's no one here Papa, it doesn't feel right" I whisper.

Nodding his head in response.

"I know baby. I need you to stay close to me no matter what happens and if i tell you to do something you must obey . Do you understand me ?" He mind-link me.

"Okay Papa , I will ."

He stopped behind a tree, a few meters away from the hideout entrance . I got off his back as quietly as possible . While dad is assessing the place , I look around, searching for a bag of clothes. We place bags of clothes randomly at the base of the trees throughout our pack land so that when someone shifts back from their wolf form they can change into it.

Finding one, I open it and grab a T- shirt . I quickly put it on and walk towards my dad.

This is a little baggy on me but it'll do .

"Is Mami in there? Is she safe? " I ask as I stand beside him grabbing onto his fur for support.

I am terrified. I don't know if Mami is safe , if anyone is safe . What if she is hurt.. Or dead!

I start to hyperventilate but my dad's mind-link cuts me off and I focus on what he says .
"You stay here, i will"-

"No! I will follow you!" I interrupt.

"Listen, there's no time. I will go in and find mum. If anything happens and I tell you to run, you run and don't look back do you understand me .Be a strong girl for me . Papa loves you. " His voice wavering towards the end.

Tears well up , swallowing the lump in my throat I crock out " I love you Papa. Please be careful."

My dad moves towards the hideout and descends the stairs. As his figure slowly disappears, I feel my legs giving out .Falling onto the ground I lurch forward and throw up.
What if ... what if papa doesn't make it out alive . I'm going to lose both Mami and Papa.I don't want to be alone .

I look up towards the blue sky and pray.

Please Moon Goddess, if you can hear me . I beg you , please , make sure my parents will be okay. Please don't take them away from me .
