The Sentient (a Post apocalypse Story)

Intro Part 2

     As I mentioned earlier there are 4 different kinds of infected, there's the Walkers, the Ticks, the Crawlers and the Moera's.

Walker's:

     These are the types of infected you'll often see in movies or on TV. You'll find walkers in small towns and cities, controlling the more urban areas as they raid buildings hungry for their own blood.

     Walkers are decently easy to kill, you can kill them with nearly anything. These hungry infected are active during any time of day as they search for food, raiding buildings and abandoned streets in search for anything.

     Walkers are special because they are the only type of infected willing to eat each other. If they get hungry and fresh flesh isnt near they will start getting domestic, and go after each other, willing to do anything to end their hunger.

Tick's:

     Ticks are city creatures, they come out at night and hide in the dark as they wait for their prey. We call them Ticks because they make a constant ticking sound, the chattering sounds of their teeth gnawing against each other and their bones cracking adding to the ticking noises. Ticks are blind, they cannot see and they rely on hearing in order to find food.

     These infected are not so easily killed. In order to get rid of Ticks you must cut off their head, this is the only way to kill them. Shooting, stabbing and hitting will not effect them, however cutting off their head will leave them immobile an dead.

Crawler's:

     Crawlers can be found anywhere, in the city or in the middle of nowhere, it doesn't matter because they will be there.

     Crawlers have a less human look, this type of infected gets effected by everything. Most Crawlers have extra limbs and can do things most can't, like climbing up walls or being immune to drowning.

     Crawlers hide, they are never in plain view. If you're in the city they are likely to be hanging from a ceiling, waiting for their next victim. These creatures have incredible hearing, sight and smell, and they're very fast. The extra limbs they grow can cause them to be able to move at inhuman speeds.

     To kill Crawlers you have to do more then just stab or cut them, for they can regenerate their limbs if you cut it off. In order to kill it you must stab it in a fatal area, like the head or the heart.

Moera's:

     This type of infected can only be found in open areas, like the woods or open roads. These creatures have poor vision and cannot hear, but they have a great sense of smell. 

     The Moera's body is often overthrown by whatever their environment, having earthy parts taking over their limbs. You'll find dirt, rocks or wood on various parts of their body.

     Moera's often hide in trees or in the ground, burrowing as they wait for anyone walking through.

     These creatures are harder to kill, as they can often regenerate and be unaffected by anything as most of their body is malleable. No one knows how to kill this creature yet.

     Those are the basic types of infected, of course including whatever animals have turned as well.

     Each of these kinds are very dangerous, and take the lives of dozens of people every day. Im one of the lucky few who've managed to survive.

     Most people who have survived this long got into groups, working together and using safety in numbers to overcome challenges. But while being in groups is smart in battle, its difficult in average day. The more people you have the more resources you need to keep all of them alive.

     And with how abandoned everything it, finding resources are getting more and more difficult. Resources went down dramatically after the bombing as everyone rushed to get as much as they could carry.

     Buildings are empty, and if you want to get resources you may be searching for days on end. 

     While working in groups is difficult in the long run, it doesn't seem to bother the Thornrose, a group of survivors fighting against nature and the infected to get across to the Sentient.

     Thornrose is a association, a group of fighters who are going through cities to find and help survivors. They are incredibly athletic, meaning they can protect each other and more from the dangers that the infected bring.

     For the last few weeks the Thornrose have been raiding the borders, attacking and fighting against the soldiers at the Sentient lines, fighting to gain rights across.

     I've always wanted to be a part of Thornrose,  I've always wanted to get across the border and return to my lab to conduct an experiment to find a cure to this infection.

     But getting into Thornrose is hard, they have to find you and you have to meet the requirements. As of right now, only 7 people have been lucky enough to get into the group.

     Anyone in Thornrose is serious about why they do things. Everyone in the group is there to fight, to save lives and get those across the border to get help. If you join Thornrose, then you're there to fight until you die or until you find a cure that will save whoever is still alive in the north.
