Lara's POV
"No."
"Yes."
"No."
"No."
"Ye- hey, you tricked me!" I scowled at Samuel and he answered with a smug grin.
"I did no such thing!" He stated dramatically with a hand on his chest. "How could you think of me like that, sis?" He wouldn't stop grinning like crazy.
"Fine. If you're really my brother then prove it. Make me believe you." I demanded with my arms folded against my chest.
"Too easy." He arrogantly replied as he turned around and showed me his neck. An infinity tattoo identical to mine glowed pink. He turned back to face me again with the stupid grin still on his face.
"Why is yours pink?" I asked while trying to swallow my laughter. He frowned and folded his arms. "Because I'm happy to see you, dumbass." He replied in an obvious tone. "Is that the only reason?" I teased. He huffed in annoyance before turning and starting to walk off. The tattoo glowed orange with annoyance and I laughed at that.
"Samuel, wait." I started going after him. "Samuel. Sammy, stop!" I bumped into his back as he came to a sudden halt. "What did you just call me?" He asked as he turned to face me. Wow, we've been doing a lot of turning tonight. "Your name, Samuel." I simply replied. "No, after that." He clarified. "Oh, Sammy. It's a cute nickname if you ask me." I replied with a shrug.
He began to smile that creepy smile again before engulfing me in his arms. His hugs are nice but a bit too tight. "Uh, Sammy?" He simply hummed in reply. "Using your super strength to hug a human isn't such a good idea." I choked out and he released me immediately.
"What are you talking about?" He asked with furrowed eyebrows. "I'm human. You can tell by my scent. Duh." I clarified in an obvious tone. "Why do you seem confused?"
"Lara, you're not human." He stated. "Well, I'm definitely not a vampire." I retorted. "Not just a vampire." He vaguely replied. "What's that suppose to mean?" I demanded. "You'll find out soon. You just turned eighteen so you'll start to notice the changes soon enough."
"Wait, if I'm eighteen, how old does that make you?" I asked. "I'm twenty so I'm older than you." He replied with a pat on my head. I pushed his hand off and gave him an annoyed look to which he only laughed in return.
"Okay, big brother," I stated sarcastically while the idiot had a smug grin on his face. "What happens now, huh?"
"You either runoff with me or I come and live with you. Take your pick." He happily explained. He seemed fine with either option.
"Running away is definitely not an option. Everyone already thinks I'm a weak and worthless human, don't want to add 'coward' to their list of degrading terms." There was no way in hell I was going to run from my problems, no matter how tempting it was.
"So that means I'm coming with you then," Samuel stated as he slung his arm across my shoulder. "On a different note, would you mind pointing out who exactly used those terms," I raised my eyebrow in question but he just smiled innocently, "I just plan on having a chat with them about what happens when someone bullies my baby sister."
I rolled my eyes before elbowing him in the gut. Samuel groaned and threw me a playful glare. I laughed quietly before my demeanour turned stoic.
"Sammy listen, you can't come back with me. The pack would freak if they found out that I brought home a vampire and they'd probably have my head on a silver platter," I explained and his eyes turned murderous.
"Let them try. I'll make sure that their pack burns to the ground," he spat through gritted teeth and I gave him a worried look. "Hey, I'm just exaggerating to prove my point," I placed my hand on his shoulder and gave him a reassuring smile. Samuel calmed instantly and I smiled at that.
"So as I was saying, I can't take you back with me but I also don't want to runaway. What if I come and stay with you for a short while though? Like not really runaway, because I'm obviously coming back, but just disappear for a while. I'll tell Julian and my adopted parents that I need some space to help me deal with the rejection. And you could help me deal with whatever changes I'm suppose to start noticing soon." I finished explaining my idea and Samuel beamed with pride. I guess that means he agrees.
"I love the plan," see I told you, "we could even give you a make over while we're at it." A devious smirk formed on his lips and I hated the looks of it. "I'm sorry but I don't remember discussing a makeover," I pointed out but the idiot had this look in his eyes which told me that he was already thinking of ways to change my appearance.
"It's not just about how you look but also about your self esteem. We need to help you bloom into the flower you were meant to be all along." He looked so excited that I wanted to slap him into infinity. "Okay we'll do that too," I reluctantly agreed and Samuel wasted not time in engulfing me in his arms. He finally released me after I starting to find difficulty breathing.
"Okay, I'm going to go and get my things now. Let's just meet back here again," he nodded his head in agreement and I started to make my way back towards home. "Wait," Samuel pressed a chaste kiss to my hair before lightly pushing me towards the direction of my house. "See you soon, sis." I smiled softly to myself before continuing.
I approached the house and heard people shouting. They must still be fighting and I was contemplating whether to just climb back in through the window when I heard his voice. "What do you mean she's not home yet? You're her parents for goodness sakes!"
A chill ran down my spine and I can't tell whether that's a good thing or bad thing. Should I just sneak in and take my stuff? And you said you weren't a coward. The same voice from earlier echoed in my ears and I froze.
You know what, I need to grow a backbone and actually stand up for myself. And that's how I found myself waking through the front door and coming face to face with my ex-mate and adopted family.
Finally we're getting somewhere. Stupid voice. I take it back. This new 'backbone' might be the reason for my early death.

So this hiatus might have stretched longer than I thought it would welp. Just getting back into my wattpad writing and I plan to slowly finish my books, starting with this one.
I lost my journal which had the entire plot and layout for my stories so planning it all out again will take some time but boy I can tell you that Lara's story is gonna be a favourite.
Tell me what you think of this chapter. I'm pretty sure there's a couple of grammatical errors here and there but I hope you guys enjoy.
Till next time lovelies,
