Lara's POV

"Where the hell have you been?"

James looked liked he was ready to kill me for making him worry so much. Yeah so he go back to sucking Amber's face in peace. Woah that was not the same voice from before. Wait! Maybe I'm schizophrenic. Great, everyone already thinks I'm a loser so what's the chances of not hearing voices in my head.

Dramatic much? Snickered the second voice. Compared to the first voice, this one sounded more sarcastic and mischievous. Very. Answered the other voice in my head. Okay breathe, Lara. We can deal with the voices later but right now we have a raging Alpha to subdue.

'Did you not hear me?! Where the hell did you go this late?'

Ughh the audacity this dude has to reject me and then come around trying to exercise his right as my mate.

'I went for a walk. Nothing too dangerous so you can stop worrying your pretty little head. We wouldn't want the future Alpha to get so worked up over the mate he already rejected.'

My parents were staring at me in anger for speaking to James in such a disrespectful manner. Honestly I don't know where all that just came from. Maybe it was the encounter with my brother or the fact that there are two very sassy voices in my head right now. All I wanted to do was just simply get my things and get going. Away from all these stupid wolves and their anger isuues. Ouch that kinda hurt. Huh? The first voice was back.

Wonder why she's getting touchy. 'You've got some nerve to be speaking to me like that, little mate.' Did this guy have amnesia or something? 'Last time I checked, you rejected me, mate' I replied in a mocking tone. His eyes glowed and his expression shifted as his anger became more prominent. I scoffed and turned to my parents. 'I'm going away for a while to help me deal with all this. I just came back to get my things. Is that alright with the both of you?'

'And where will you go? You have never left the pack.' 'I'm heading to one of the human settlements - it might do me good to be surrounded by my kind.' My mother looked annoyed and I guess that's because she'll have to do most of the housework herself now. My father has never shown interest in me until now so I was taken aback when he nodded his head in agreement. 'She's right. A mate rejection is hard enough for a werewolf so it must be even more shocking for a human who never even entertained the idea of having a mate. You can go, Lara.' Everyone looked shocked. My dad was agreeing to let me do something on my own. Hallelujah, it's a birthday miracle!

'Thank you Dad!' I quickly ran upstairs to pack and didn't even notice that James that followed me to my room. 'Well you seem excited to finally leave us.' 'Oh you have no idea.' I threw him a triumphant smile over my shoulder and he scoffed at my obvious excitement. 'As your mate and future Alpha, you do know I have the power to stop you from leaving' he stated as a matter-of-fact. I sighed and turned to face him 'As the future Alpha you have no actual authority over me since I'm just a human and not a werewolf. And would you stop calling yourself my mate. Geez what a way to rub salt in the wound after publicly rejecting me.' Hurt flashed across his face but was gone in an instant. Yeah right, I probably imagined that. 'Now if you don't mind, could you leave the room so I can finish my packing in peace.'

'Fine'. I breathed a sigh of relief when he left. Finally. I finished packing my things and made my way downstairs to see that James and Julian had already left and it was just my parents in the living room. 'Take care of yourself out there' my mother said half-heartedly and my dad just gave me a silent nod. Yep, this is more like them. No warm exchanges just cold acknowledgement. I trudged out of the house with my bag slung over one shoulder and met Julian outside leaning next to his car. 'Get in, I'll drop you off at the bus stop.'

What in the world. I stood there like a gaping fish in pure disbelief. The brother who always ignored my existence and made fun of me since day one was doing me one last act of kindness. Live long enough and you see everything. I agree with you there sassy voice number 1. 'Thanks' I got into the car and the entire car ride was filled with awkward silence till I finally got off. 'Lara?' I peeked through the car window after hearing my name. 'Try not to get yourself killed'. Gee, your positive attitude baffles me. I scoffed and looked at him in disbelief.

'Trust me, I'm a lot tougher than you think'.

Guess who's finally back to writing. Honestly, couldn't bring myself to continue my works on here because I feel like my vision and style as a writer has changed so much over the years. However I will be picking up this book and might completely rewrite Her Style. No promises though because I have a tendency to disappear. Happy reading!

Anyway, let me know your thoughts on this chapter. Yay or nay?

Till next time lovelies,
