iii. THE SOUND OF SILENCE

Jasmine seemed on edge the next day, as did everyone else. No one seemed to know why, but Jasmine had made an effort to avoid speaking to the people around her. Though the tension in the air was quite thick, she still needed to go to class.

While on her way to her fourth class today, Jasmine couldn't help but notice how everyone would glance at her, and lower their voices towards their peers. Jasmine didn't mind the whispers or the wary glances that were passed her way, she thought of it amusingly. Someone who couldn't stop talking about you covets you; that's what Jasmine thought of it as.

In the midst of her thoughts, Jessica Stanley came bounding up to her."Jasmine!" Here we go, She thought."Hey!" Jessica beamed at the blue-eyed girl.

Ignoring the girls greeting, Jasmine asked," Do you know why everyone is acting so weird?"

"What do you mean?" The girl questioned back.

"Everyone is staring for some reason... And whispering." Jasmine elaborated, glancing behind herself." Oh...that." Jessica sighed," Its kinda hard to believe that you haven't noticed."

"Noticed what?" Jasmine furrowed her eyebrows at Jessica's words." Uhm, all the Cullen family starting at you..?" Jessica looked at the girl in bewilderment.

"And..? So is everyone else." Jasmine stated frustratedly." That's why everyone else is staring─ because the Cullens are." She told her.

"That's...disturbing." Jasmine sighed. Her words made the shorter girl scrunch her eyebrows in confusion." What is?" Jessica asked.

"How every treats them like they're some superior being." Jasmine scoffed," They're not Gods."

"No, but they look like one," Jessica commented, following behind Jasmine.

Jasmine then stopped before Entering the classroom, and turned around to face the other female." There's only one God, sweetheart─ and I'd like to imagine that he wouldn't be that pale." Jasmine then left Jessica in the hallway as she stepped into the classroom.

Jasmine rolled her eyes at the clock, wanting the time to pass by quicker than it had been the last 30 minutes. All she wanted to do was go home and get away from her peers. Though she wouldn't admit it to anyone, the stares and whispers were staring to really piss her off.

Jasmine looked behind her, and as soon as she did, the students behind her quickly looked down or away from her. Jasmine then sat forward again, slightly sinking into her seat with her arms crossed under her breast.

As soon as the bell rang, Jasmine was the first one in the hallway. She dreaded her next class, uncertain if she can take much more. The constant eyes that hovered over her quickly blended into one big blanket that covered her every inch. She tried ignoring it, but just as any other blanket would, it was starting to suffocate her.
