The night was late, with the sun soon disappearing behind the horizon. Lifting my gaze to the sky, it was still beautiful, even describable as mesmerising.
The music was more than a distant echo, but I payed it as much attention as if it was nothing more than an echo. I quite liked the melodies, but there was something else occupying my mind.
There was a gentle breeze of wind in the air, that brought the soft message of calmness. Even the trees seemed to reply to the peaceful tune of both wind and music.
When my eyes found what I was searching for, I couldn't help the growing smile on my face and warmth inside my chest. While I already had known where to look, it was still a relief checking and finding that nothing had moved.
On the same time as the sun cast its last beams of light and while a pleasant wind blew into my hair, she looked at me and smiled. No matter what I'd have gone through the same day, her smile would have made my heart melt and rejuvenate me.
Her appearance was beyond beautiful, to me it was perfect. The brown hair golden in the glow of the expiring sunlight, and with her eyes were sparkling with endless compassion. Her cheeks were lightly flushed with a mild crimson colour, but it was her smile that alone was able to stop time.
My already molten heart started beating again after what seemed to be an eternity. The rhythm was in a heartbeat faster than it should be, but it kept on speeding as my footsteps brought me closer to her.
The music was gaining tempo and volume, while artificial lightening replaced natural sunlight. The wind had begun a new song, one of excitement and curiousity, with trees adapting and reflecting those new feelings, now also joining arms with the bushes and undergrowth.
And it only got more exhilarating by every step. The continuous drumbeat was not beating to the rhythm of my feet. While my feet went calmly, the sound of drums was pulsating at same speed as my heart.
There were a lot of people, but none in the way. Everyone just instinctively shifted making way for me. With the music now playing quite loud and thrilling, only two people in the crowd wasn't focused on it.
Only steps away the wind hastened twirling through her hair, making it swirl in a natural untamed charm. The sweet, yet unique scent of her could be noticed by now. Her aroma was one of nature. There was nothing that could be compared to this moment.
The atmosphere was fierce, but in no way violent. With nature and the music answering to my heartbeat, there were only benevolence.
Even through a thunderstorm the thought of her would invigorate me, giving me enough power to endure it all. Fortunately, I only had to persist a little longer to reach her. This was though not a problem, other than the of my recklessly pounding heart.
In the sky scarlet clouds steadily drifted towards the azure region above us. They were neither ominous nor benignant, but they can always alter in the blink of an eye.
But here I stood, right in front of her, both of us smiling at eachother. Not any kind of creepy or 'contained laughter' smile, but just two sweet, pure smiles.
When we stood there, everything around us seemed to hold its breath, waiting patiently but intensively for what would happen next.
We could have been standing and smiling at eachother for just ten seconds or more than an hour, time didn't matter, because the moment was timeless. There was only one thing to say here.

Short StoryThe sight of beauty at an outdoor concert, close to your heart. I wrote this as an experimental text for a small competition, to try something new. FYI, proud second placer of the contest. Even if it was quite a small one.
