I messed up this time

Late last night

Drinking to suppress devotion

"Pick up, pick up, pick up," I murmur pacing back and forth in my flat. Honestly I knew I shouldn't be this anxious about calling Louis, or nervous whether or not he'd pick up. I knew he was mad, the look on his face hours before was enough to give it away, and had haunted the rest of my sleepless night. I just wanted to get some good ol' fashioned revenge, but obviously it went a tad out of hand.

"Hey Dawn," Louis chirped picking up on the third ring. I was startled by his happy tone, my jaw instantly dropping, leaving me flabbergasted.

"Hi Louis, um I'm sorry about last night. I didn't mean for that to happen. I was just mad. About Brendon I-"

"Don't worry. I'm fine with it. It's your decision and I can't tell you how to live your life. You two are actually quite adorable together. Wanna meet up for lunch in a little bit?" he said all too quickly leaving me even more startled.

"Um sure, I guess. You're not at all mad at me?" I asked still confused about his reaction.

"Hmm not really. I'll pick you up in an hour! Bye," he responded, obviously grinning, before hanging up.

"What?" I whispered to myself, sub-consciously combing my fingers through my hair. My phone rang seconds later and I picked it up without looking at the caller ID.

"DAAAWN! Guess what?!? I'm back!" screeched a very overly excited voice. I laughed immediately recognizing the voice as my friend, Li.

"Hey dumbo, when did you get back?" I smiled sitting on my couch.

"Oh you know like 4 in the morning. I figured you want some beauty sleep. Oh my gosh but Australia though. Incredible. It was so warm and beautiful. The weather was hot, but not as hot as the guys. I mean, I had a few flings, you know what they say; a girl can't be tied for so long. Oh make sure you don't tell Peter about this," she giggled. Peter was Li's on again off again boyfriend, both of them currently off at the moment.

"Li, I would love to her all about your trip, but I have a dilemma..." I sighed as she continued to ramble on about her experience.

"Shut it bitch and listen. It can't be that bad right?" she giggled.

"Louis's back." I moaned closing my eyes.

"I'll be over in five."

"Wait so you slept with the hottie, Braxton,"

"Brendon."

"Just to get revenge! Oh girl! I'm so proud of you! You take that little bitch down!" Li giggled sipping on the coffee she has made herself.

"But look that's the thing. I feel bad about it. I don't know, it's like I have feelings for him again. I agreed to go to lunch with him and everything and I-"

"Look girl. I think it's great you two have 'made up' or whatever, but don't fall for him again. He's going to hurt you, and we both know that."

"We're just friends," I replied crossing my arms as I grabbed my purse. Louis texted me saying that he was waiting for me outside. I locked the door as we both walked out.

"Just friends my ass. You been careful missy," Li smiled before giving me a quick hug. "See you later loser."

"Bye Li," I smirked as she bounded out of the elevator and out the lobby door. I took a deep breath before making my way out into the cold air and into the black Porsche.

"How's the pasta?" Louis smirked grabbing a piece of my spaghetti with his fork. I was quick to slap away his hand but he ate my food anyway.

"It's pretty good. Not the worst, not the best," I sighed. This lunch had been extremely uncomfortable for me, while Louis seemed perfectly normal.

"Oh yeah, I can make pasta way better than this, and I don't even cook," he grinned.

"You'd burn down your house if you tried," I retorted. He kicked my shin as he mocked hurt.

"Not like you could do much better!" he cried crossing his arms across his chest before we fell into another awkward silence.

"Louis I feel really bad about last night. I wasn't thinking and I don't know." I sighed burying my face into my hands.

"Would you stop apologizing. I'm not mad." he groaned running his hands through his hair. Although he sounded fine, he looked extremely stressed out.

"So we're still cool," I smiled.

"Just friends," he chuckled before sticking out his hand to shake which I took in my own gently shaking in return.

******

"Well that was fun," smiled Louis leaning against the wall outside my flat door.

"Yep." I replied unlocking my door.

"Care to hang out tomorrow?" Louis asked taking my hand in his own. I quickly pulled it away giving him a harsh glare.

"I have to edit the article about your interview tomorrow," I sighed.

"Dawn, would stop acting like that!" Louis nervously chuckled.

"Like what? I'm just acting like how friends would." I said turning around.

"But you're not, you're not like, bantering with me!" Louis groaned.

"You want me too?" I smirked stepping through my apartment backwards so I was still facing Louis.

"I just want you to act normal," Louis sighed.

"I am acting normal," I shot back crossing my arms.

"No you're not!" Louis shouted.

"Stop yelling at me!" I screamed.

"Make me!" he shouted. What happened next, I can't really explain. I grabbed Louis's hands in my own and pressed my lips to his. We both were frozen before we melted into each other, him wrapping his arms around my waist and pulling me close to him, as my hands wrapped around his neck. We kissed until our lips were red and swollen before pulling apart and resting our foreheads against each other's.

"Friends don't kiss each other," Louis murmured pressing a gentle kiss to my lips once against.

"I-I-"

"I guess we're more than just friends," Louis smirked.
