Not just waiting

"CHARLIE, get up!" "Two minutes more please." Charlie wined. "NOW!!!" I growled in that I brought you into this world I can take you back out tone. "We need to hurry. Go use the bathroom, breakfast is almost ready." I ordered. "Alright already, Mom." she groused.

Mornings had never been easy for us; but without Xavier to help and with the babies to deal with...let's just say breakfast was burnt, the twins were crying and Charlie and I wanted to as well.

We barely made it to the packs school on time. After Charlie helped me get the stroller out she ran inside. Ok stroller check, twins and car seats in stroller check, diaper bag check and then run inside myself.

"Blue over here!" Luna Fran called. "Tina, this is Blue and her cubs Seth and Beth." said Luna Fran to the tall blonde next to her. "Nice to meet you, Blue. I'll be your co-teacher. Aww, they are so cute. Let's go have fun with the cubs. Bye Luna Fran." she said as we went down the hall to our room at the packs daycare.

By their naptime I was ready for my own nap. Do you know how many diaper changes eight babies need?

"Let's go to the kitchen for lunch, Blue." Tina invited. "We can watch the babies on the monitor." "Sounds good to me. Let's go." I agreed.

"So you're new to the pack huh?" She seemed nice so I decided to spill my guts. "Yeah because we were friends with shifters where we lived before some humans decided to set fire to our home at night with us in it. Smoke inhalation got my husband. It really hurt that these were people I grew up with. Charlie is having trouble with knowing who to trust now, her wolf helps tho. We didn't even know we were shifters or that I was pregnant much less with twins. It was all a big surprise. Alpha William was visiting the pack there when it happened. He invited us to join this pack and we jumped at a chance for a fresh start." I said just a little teary.

"Wow that's...well I'm just sorry hun. That really weird though that you didn't know about being shifters?!"

"Yeah, it is. They already took samples to see if they can figure out if we're related to any shifters. To make it stranger Seth and I are werebear and the rest of the family are wolves." I said.

"Huh. I'm sorry about your mate. I don't mean to be insenitve but do you think you'll be ready if you find a new mate soon?" Tina asked.

"Funny you should ask. Do you know Luna Fran's brother Jack?"

"Yeah. Why, what about him?" she said tilting her head.

"Well they gave us his house and my bear lost it as soon as the door opened. As far as we can tell he's my new mate if he will accept us."

"Jack was my best friend. You would be perfect for him. My mate is a werebear so Jack and I know a little about how y'all think. Werebears don't care about rank and just want to take care of others...perfect for a Beta female. He has been waiting for his mate for a long time. With what happened with those other two - he will certainly appreciate a little loving care werebear style. He has always wanted to be a dad. I think his only regret about your cubs will be that he wasn't their dad from day one. I hope he comes home soon." Tina said.

"I hope so too. I worry about him. Is he getting enough to eat, sleep? Does he feel rejected? I just want to wrap him in my arms and take care of him. Ugh, I'm such a mama bear." I moaned.

"Ha-ha I can't wait to see you two together. It will be so cute." she laughed.

"I miss Xavier so much. The nights are the worst. I'm usually too busy during the day to have time to grieve, but after everyone's else is asleep it hits me. I think about how much we are all missing without him. But we talked about what could happen if one of us died first. We knew how hard it would be on the survior especially if Charlie was still young. We knew we would want someone to be there for the ones left behind. Someone to lean on, love, care for, guide. If Jack and I become mates he will be the one to show our children a father's love. It will be Jack that will show them how a husband treats his wife. Xavier loves us enough that if he can't be here to do that he wants someone else to fill that place. We need Jack as much as he needs us. I'm trying so hard to move forward and not just wait for Jack." I said.

"Like I said y'all are going to be so cute to watch-it will melt my itty-bitty heart."
