"Stop it, Dawnkit!" A small brown she-kit wailed as the larger, golden-brown she-kit tugged the feather from her mouth.
"We win!" She boasted, leaping off her sister and dropping the feather, smoothing her fur. They were playing Capture The Feather.
"It's not fair! You're all bigger than me." She pouted, huffing.
"Well, it's not our fault you're so puny." Maggotkit spat, licking his white fur clean. The small she-kit stared at them in sadness then turned and ran off whining. "Dawnkit, she's so annoying, how do you put up with her sometimes?"
"I really don't." Dawnkit shrugged, watching as she fled into the Nursery. "My mother just forces me to."
"Dawnkit!" The sharp call of her mother's voice startled Maggotkit and his two brothers. The golden-brown she-kit tugged fur out from her claws calmly and began walking towards the Nursery. She was used to being yelled at by her mother, because of her sister who was smaller than the average cat but always wanted to participate, Dawnkit was known as a trouble child. "Why would you say that to your sister?" Her mother hissed as soon as she walked in, her mother was a golden tabby she-cat.
"I didn't say anything to her! We were just playing Capture The Feather and she got upset about losing!" Dawnkit hissed, mad about the situation.
"You know you're not supposed to play rough with your sister." She argued back.
"Well I'm sorry that I want to have fun and she was born small! You act like this is all my fault, I at the very least let her play the game, I'm not going to go easy on her or let her cheat just because I'm bigger." The golden-brown tabby snapped.
"Well you should. For one, she's your sister, and for two, she's also your Clanmate. We have to stick together or we all go down. You have no idea how many cats I've wanted to smack upside the head, your father even, but this is our Clan and we must protect it." She growled.
"Honeybelly," a black tom with brown markings came into the Nursery. "Robinstar wishes to see you."
"Dawnkit, I'm disappointed in you. I would've thought being the oldest and biggest of the litter would give you the feeling to protect your siblings. I don't want to see you again tonight." Honeybelly hissed, padding after the tom.
"This is so unfair! I should be an apprentice right now! I'm almost as big as Lionpaw!" She huffed, Lionpaw was the oldest apprentice currently, he was nearly a warrior.
Honeybelly didn't say anything back, Maggotkit and his siblings came into the Nursery. "Let's play a game!" Thrushkit asked, fluffing out his silver fur. This brightened Dawnkit's mood immediately, she loved fighting games. The she-kit pounced on his back, biting his tail while he rolled over onto his back, squishing her. She bit his ear and he leaped away, barreling into Maggotkit who swiped at his ear. Dawnkit leaped on both of them, pawing them and biting them playfully.
Suddenly Robinstar called a Clan meeting and the kits looked at each other excitedly. "Lets go see what it's about!" Dawnkit mewed, going to run out of the den but being stopped by Honeybelly.
"What are you doing?" She hissed.
"Can we watch the meeting? Please?" She asked, Honeybelly narrowed her eyes at the large kit.
"After what happened today, do you really think you deserve to listen to a Clan meeting?" She snapped, Dawnkit huffed and sat down in her nest. "Fine, but you have to be quiet." Honeybelly meowed, Dawnkit immediately brightened up and followed her mother outside. They stayed in the back of the crowd, as Dawnkit saw Robinstar, her father waiting patiently on the rock.
