Prologue
~Alix Montgomery~
* Eight years ago*
I was only 10 years old and I was going to my first slumber party, I was never really 'popular' in school. I always kept to my self and spent the breaks in school reading any book I could get my hands on, so when a girl asked me to come to her birthday party, and then stay over after with a couple of other girls I immediately said "yes" without even asking my parents consent.
When I got home that evening I told my mum and dad that I was invited to a sleepover. My parents smiled at each other, excited that I was going to have my first sleepover. I was told to be there at 7 o'clock, so after supper I asked my mum to help me pack my things.
"Cloths for the morning?" she asked going over a little list I made to make sure I didn't forget anything.
"Check!" I joyfully shouted
"Shhh Ashton is sleeping dear" she smiled mentioning the two year old who was sleeping in the room over.
We went through the list, I had everything I'd need for the exciting night ahead of me. I ran downstairs and have my dad a bear hug, when my mum came down she gave my dad a short kiss before whispering 'I love you' to him and he whispered 'I love you to' back.
I have always admired that my parent have found their soul mates; each other. They look at each other with so much love in their eyes. And I have always wanted to find my own soulmate.
My mum opens the back seat door and let's me jump in, before closing the door and walking to her side and hopping in herself, she starts the car and pulls out of the drive way.
Once we have been driving for a couple minutes my mom turned the radio on, Kelly Clarkson's Since U Been Gone was on and me and my mum started singing along, we wern't the best out there but we still had loads of fun singing along to every song that came on the radio.
When all of a sudden my mum stops singing, and starts to scream.
"ALIX CLOSE YOUR EYES!" Shaking in fear I quickly glance up and see a car swerving into our lane; going towards us. And that's all I remember before every thing when black.
*One week later, still in a flashback*
I can hear whispering all around me, and if I listen closely I can hear some crying. I try to move I could only lift one of my fingers.
"Alix?! Can you hear me!" He cries desperately "If you can try and squeeze my hand." I try as hard as I can to squeeze his hand "She did it, she squeezed my hand!" His deep voice whispered in relief. I open my eyes, blinking a couple times in the process. "Dad?" I croak due to my throat being extremely dry. I look around my two younger brothers on the chair sleeping and my older brother sitting on the floor with his back agenst the white wall.
"Where am I?" I ask my dad. "Honey you're in the hospital you and your mum got into and accident." Now I remember. "Where's mum? Is she okay?" I ask worried, his face dropped. "I'm sorry, but mum died a couple days after they brought her to the hospital" I could do nothing more but cry.
