The first few days went by without anything worth mentioning. I was still worried about the fact that Watari was so close and I didn't know anything about it until now, but then again... He might not be the one I ought to be cautious about. On the other hand, I should have known, too. There's no way he would let L roam freely.
I spent a lot of my time in the library at Malfoy Manor. I was still trying to find something on that odd phenomenon I encountered in the halls, but up until now, I hadn't been successful. It was slowly getting to me that nothing in my life seemed to go right.
"Hey, Bookworm! It's time for lunch!" Kristie poked her head into the room. She gave up on trying to get me away from the books a while ago and resorted to just leaving me at it. She still checks up on me, which is really sweet, but other than that, I don't know what she does.
"Yeah, okay I'll be down in a bit." I replied. I marked the page and put it on the table before starting towards the dining hall.
"Did you tell her already?"
What was that?
"No father. I'm trying to get her alone, you know? I don't want her crazy friend anywhere near me!"
Who were they talking about? It was pretty clear that this was Malfoy and his father but who...?
"Well, hurry it up then! We don't know what we're up against and unless you tell her soon, it might get worse!"
"Okay, okay, I will!"
The conversation was obviously over and I made my way downstairs quickly to avoid getting caught.
During lunch I couldn't think about anything else. Who were they talking about? It was either Kristie or me, I thought. But it could also be an entirely different girl at school. Maybe Parkinson? No, Malfoy could get her alone anytime he wanted. In fact anyone in Slytherin House would do what he said if he commanded it so those people are ruled out. Unfortunately that still left three other houses and a lot of other candidates... Why even care? I had other things to worry about...
"Hey. You alright? You've been staring at that window for an awful long time... Got a window fetish or something?" Kristie joked.
"Huh? Oh, yeah. Just... thinking." I played with my food, not really feeling up for eating anything. "And NO I do NOT have... a window fetish! Where do you come up with all that crazy stuff?!"
Afterwards I just returned to the library and resumed my research but no matter how long I looked, nothing came out of it. In the end, I had to go back to my room as it was getting dark outside and the premises really creepy. The whole manor had shivers running up and down my spine at night. Who knew what was hiding in those shadows... Waiting to attack...
Wow, I have a problem.

"What? What are you doing?" Malfoy had just pushed me into an empty room as I was walking to, of course, the library.
"Don't worry. I just need to tell you something." He looked kinda nervous...
"Oh yeah? Just like last time when you told me to get out of your sight?" I fired back. I don't know what made me think like that but I couldn't believe this guy. The first time 'round I was willing to hear him out, but since he blew that... Plus, he was a total ass to me during previous school years! This year he's been not so prominent in my miserable life but that didn't atone for his doings before that! "Look Malfoy, I'm not having any of this. I've got better things to do so why don't you go bother someone else!"
"Whoa, were is all this coming from? I didn't really do anything to deserve this... yet, did I?" He grabbed me as I turned away. "Just hear me out... please."
Please? I sighed. "Three minutes. Make it count."
"Okay, okay. You'll see, you want to hear this. First..." He took something out of his pocket. A box? "I believe this is yours."

I couldn't believe it. I had no idea - This was crazy. Malfoy just told me my entire past? He knew more about me than I did myself? How was this possible? No. He didn't know more about me than I did. But he did know about my... legacy, I guess? My ancestors.
"I have so many questions right now." I stared at the necklace in my hands. It was supposed to unleash great magical powers once worn by the rightful owner - a member of the Frost Family.
"I know. But I told you everything I know. If you really are a Frost, then we shall find out, right?" Malfoy took the necklace and placed it around my neck. The cold metal fit against my skin and it felt like I knew this feeling. I kinda did, too, but not in this form. The chain laid around my neck as if it belonged there, like it had been waiting to feel my neck being encased by it. Like this was right.
Suddenly, the necklace began glowing a bright blue, hovering in midair. I let out a silent gasp, staring at the spectacle happing right before my eyes. Then, the glowing grew fainter and the necklace began descending towards my chest again. Once it settled back down, the shape of the ornament had changed form, were previously had been a violet flower, now sat a silver moon with little stars forming a kind of thread around it.
"You.. really are... I can't believe it..." Malfoy spluttered not able to form a coherent sentence.
"Sooo... what does it mean? The moon and the stars?" I asked. Malfoy had said that the shape of the ornament would be some sort of representation of my powers.
"Well, I'm not entirely sure but I think you can control the stars and moon and the night, or something?" He guessed.
"Okay? So that's that. Do you think this whole thing has something to do with the strange blue symbols I've been seeing in the halls at Hogwarts? It did glow in the same colour..." Malfoy stared at me. Right... I hadn't told anyone about those.
"You've been seeing symbols that glow?" He asked.
"Only twice! And yeah, they were in the halls and I couldn't find it anywhere so... Maybe it's not worth thinking about..." I sighed. I hadn't found anything in the Malfoy library either. Maybe it all is just a hoax... Something set up to freak people out.
"No. I think there is something to it. You weren't wearing the necklace so maybe the castle was telling you to? You see, the first form the necklace ever took was said to be a strange symbol that noone could understand." Malfoy hauled into a long explanation. "But that symbol would never appear again. It was not representing a power either but rather showing the beginning of a legacy. Nobody has seen it since, because the necklace was always passed directly to the next generation. You, however, never had the chance to get it from your parents as they passed away too early. Maybe the necklace was trying to send you messages through the castle. I had it after all. And I was in the castle, too. It wanted you to wear it since you were the rightful owner. But you didn't understand the meaning because you didn't know about your past. You had never seen the symbol before and so you didn't understand a thing and..." In the end there was just a jumble of words tumbling out of his mouth.
"Yeah... that's probably it. Just one more thing. How do you know so much about my past?" I cut his rambles off.
"Well, our families go way back. They were the closest of friends back in the days and they knew all about each other. My father told me everything I know about the Frosts. Yours is a really special family after all." He said. "My parents were quite devastated when they heard of your... situation. I was only two but I remember, they wouldn't stop mourning for weeks. I didn't understand back then but now I know it's because of the ties our families share."
"Yeah... Look." I began. "Thanks for telling me all that but I don't feel like I'm a part of all that you know? I grew up in an entirely different world, I couldn't fit in with this story. I know that everything proves that I'm the one who this necklace belongs to, but it's just not me. I was found by an orphanage and later on... adopted. Even if I wanted to, I can't become a part of this legacy." I explained. It wasn't entirely truthful, but that didn't matter right now.
"I understand. You need time to adjust. Get used to this new situation, right? I won't stop you if you don't want to be my friend and I can understand that, too. Just... we're here for you if you need us." The Malfoy family having my back? That didn't sound all bad.
"Yeah... I do need some time to adjust. And... thanks." I smiled.
