DEREK'S POV
"Not everything in the world is money Derek! Here you are rich and with everything you need and want, yet you have a failing marriage because of it. Love, it is much more important my dear son. Alice is a gold digging whore and she was the worst decision you ever made in your life. The only good thing that came out of that devil is Mason!"
"Dad, please you have to stop talking about my wife. Yes she could be a bit... superficial and materialistic but we love each other. Mason is a representation of that love."
"Son I really hope you open your eyes some day and see that woman as what she really is. There's someone out there for you Derek, but that women is not Alice...trust me."
I sighed and took a sip of my whiskey as my father walked out of my office. He is ridiculous. We're happy right....I mean we have tons of money and clothes and evreything we need, that is except love. My marriage with Alice has been suffering for a couple of years now. I suspect she's been cheating on me but I don't dare bring it up. She doesn't even care for our one year old, Mason. It honestly breaks my heart, but i can't do much due to the fact I'm always working. I had no idea what to do anymore. Someone had to care for Mason but who?
SKYLAR'S POV
"Sky, it's dad...he's sick."
"What do you mean Mike, what's wrong with dad?"
"Dad has leukemia, Sky"
That was the moment my "perfect" or what seemed like perfect, little life came crashing down on me. My daddy was evreything to me. I couldn't picture a life without him and now he was being torn away from me.
My brother Michael told me he had stage II lymphocytic leukemia and he still had a large chance of getting better as long as he went under chemotherapy and other treatments. And of course we didn't exactly have that type of money. Until we were able to find a good insurance we had to all chip in and help out with the medical bills. This meant I had to move into a smaller more affordable apartment, stop waisting money on unnecessary things, and get another job, but what?
