Why did girls always have life so hard? We were the ones to carry the child, the ones to shed the lining in their body every month. All of this and a guys worst nightmare is an unconventional boner at the wrong time.
I grabbed my water jug and ran to the water fountain to fill it up. The sound of feet came up behind me.
"You okay? Can you do this today?" I turned to Cameron, and did a small smile.
"It's been three weeks, I'm pretty sure I can handle it." I patted his arm.
"Ooh yes mom get your man!" Jace cheered as he stepped by us, and I laughed to myself as genuine concern flashed over Cameron's eyes.
"You are going to have to tell others eventually. People are going to start noticing the weight gain if you don't at least let a few people know." I lowered my head, knowing it couldn't just stay in between me and Cameron.
"I will, just give it time..." I pushed past him, catching up to Jace and nudging his shoulder.
"I need to tell you something after practice, alright?" I looked up at him, and immediate confusion dotted his face.
"What is it, mom?" He stopped, grabbing my arm when I tried to continue walking.
"I'll tell you later, I promise..." I loosened his grip on my arm and continued walking in silence.
After about thirty minutes of condition, which consisted of us holding the Superman position for two minutes, holding the lemon squeezer for Lord knows how long, and standing at attention for the remainder of the time, it was finally time for running.
Landon trotted up beside me as we took a long water break.
"Rumor has it, you and Cameron are getting it on every day. Is this true?" Landon muttered. I slapped him across the face.
"No, obviously we are not doing that, and we will never do that. We are good friends, that's all. So mind your own business." I left him there without another word.
"Make sure you have plenty of water, we will be running for the remainder of this class period. That means we will be running for 20-25 minutes for those of you who can't do math." A couple people snickered as Destiny readied at the 50 yard line, being the first in line and the others grouping behind her.
"Ready, and, go!" We all took off, jogging easily through the first few run arounds. I noticed I already felt fatigued on the fifth go around, while everyone else were still pulling ahead.
My heart was pumping uncontrollably as I felt the world spin, and I rocketed towards the ground. People stepped over me, thinking I had tripped until I hadn't gotten up for a little while.
Jason leaned over me, brushing my hair out of my face, "You okay?"
"Uhm, huh?" I opened my eyes, leaning onto Jason's leg as I sat up. My head was pounding and my stomach was clenching.
"You fell pretty badly..." He placed a hand on my shoulder, and the weight made me feel like puking.
"I just haven't been feeling my best lately..." I started to stand, and doubled over in pain as shoots of it reached down to my lower abdomen. I clenched my teeth together.
"You aren't on your ladies days, right?" He looked a little annoyed. I'm far from my ladies days actually, thanks for asking.
"I still have another two weeks..." I clenched my stomach, feeling a small raised bump on it already.
"Did you eat?" Yes I did Jason, I ate double the food because I'm pregnant.
"Obviously..." I squinted my eyes in the sun as the group of runners neared is again, a few other people would be dropping to check and make sure I was okay, I had to look like it.
"Did you eat something you normally don't eat? You look very pale..." Jason lifted his hand off me as I leaned back into the ground, muffled words aiming from all directions as people crowed around me. My eyes blackened and I drifted into unconsciousness.
I woke up, feeling a pair of strong hands gripping my legs and waist. My stomach was leaned over the shoulder of the figure, and I opened my eyes too see the back of Jace. I rubbed my eyes and tapped on his back. He stopped.
"Morgan, are you okay?" He turned to look at me, and a headache shot up to my skull.
"Is there anybody around us...?" I tried to look around, but the continued movement of Jace and the bright sun made my eyes hurt.
"No one except me and Cameron, he insisted on coming with us to get back to the band hall..." I turned to see Cameron walking with his head down.
"Jace, can you put me down really quick?" I planted my feet on the ground and got off of him.
"You need to know something..." I sat down in the grass, picking at it with my hands.
"What is it?" Cameron sat beside me as Jace spoke, and I felt warm hands wrap around mine to calm my shaking nerves.
"I..." I took a deep breath.
"Hey, it's okay. You'll be fine. But you can't expect people to help if you don't tell them..." Jace sat on the other side of me, and his arm wrapped around my shoulder.
"I can't..." I dropped my head. I heard a deep breath from Cameron as he spoke up.
"She's pregnant." He let out his breath as I expected Jace to freak out, but he remained solemn.
"Did you do this to her..?" Jace glared at Cameron, and I felt the tension between them rise.
"Jace, no, it's not like that... I let it happen. It's no ones fault." I grabbed his arm as he reached over to hit Cameron.
"What are you gonna do, Morgan? You have to get rid of it." He looked into my eyes.
"I've already decided to keep it..." I pulled my hand away from Cameron, standing up and brushing myself off.
"When did it happen?" He stood as well. Cameron stayed seated, head in his hands.
"Three weeks ago." I began walking to the door of the band hall.
"Who knows?"
"Me and you two. That's it. I can't bring myself to tell anyone else." Cameron stepped in behind us.
We walked inside, and I glanced over to the tuba cubby in the corner.
"I have an appointment set for today in about thirty minutes, if you want to come..." I turned to Jace, and Cameron stopped behind me.
"I have nothing else to do, so I might as well..." He hugged me before packing his bag and going to the restroom.
"Jace, I don't know who I should and shouldn't tell." I turned to him, and he leaned against the wall.
"Whenever you feel you should tell them, do it. I made a promise not to tell anyone, but I think if you tell any others you shouldn't reveal who the father is. Just for yours and my safety." He leaned down and kissed my forehead, and I hugged him tightly.
What have I done?
