You walked towards the football field and took a seat at the very front so you could see Tom perfectly, you cheered for him throughout the game yelling out some suggestions once in a while that he rolled his eyes to but still listened to. He ran across the field shoving through some people before scoring his first touchdown ever, which also won them the game.

Everyone cheered but you cheered the loudest over everyone and you jumped up and down. He ran over you with a proud grin on his face, he leaned over the wall hanging right in front of you. “Are you proud of me darling?” he smiled a toothy grin “More than anything.” you pulled him into a tight hug and gave him a kiss on his cheek. “That's my boy.” You were the loudest and happiest at his first football game during his first touchdown.

After you and Harrison talked he left the room quietly after you fell asleep in his lap, he closed the door and walked into Toms room.

“What the hell is wrong with-” “I fucked up mate.” Tom cut him off, Harrison’s anger turned into concern. Tom was sitting on the edge of the bed with his head in his hand. “I yelled at her mate. I made her think that I hate her, but I just snapped. If she looked into my eyes and pleaded for me to answer her one last time I would have broken down.” Harrison walked over and sat down next to Tom “She's your best friend Tom, I don't know what happened between the two of you. But you need to talk to her.” she sighed before dropping his head in his hands. “It's not that easy Harrison…”

***

You heard a knock on the door before slowly opening your eyes and finding yourself laying on your bed with tear stained cheeks and no Tom or Harrison, you sighed before tiredly making your way towards the door. You opened the door and saw Harrison leaning against the door frame, “Hey, sorry for waking you up. But, dinner is ready downstairs.” “Alright. Thanks, I’ll be right down.” you rubbed your eyes and closed the door before walking over to the bathroom, your eyes were puffy, your cheeks still stained from tears, and hair a tangled mess. “Why did he do this to me?” you sighed before turning the faucet on and splashing the water on your face, you brushed your hair out before taking a deep breath.

You walked down the stairs and saw the whole family sitting at the table and talking before all eyes went on you. Tom paid no attention to the conversations around him, he was lost in his own thoughts until he saw you walking down the stairs his eyes drawn to your figure before meeting your eyes, he recognized that look more than anything, pain.

You felt Toms gaze, you looked into his eyes and for the first time saw something instead of anger, instead, you saw pain, sadness, and concern. He was never good at hiding his emotions, his eyes showed everything. His eyes jerked away from you, as his face hardened again. You sat down at the table as Nicola gave you a sweet smile. “Enjoy sweety.” “Thank you.” you smiled back at her before starting to eat your food. “So Tom, have you been spending time with Y/n?” his head jerked up at the mention of your name, he looked at you but you were looking down at your plate. “Yeah, it's been good. We’ve- it's been fun.” “Oh good. Remember when you two were younger and took beach trips together, and played volleyball on the beach.” you smiled slightly at the memory of that day.

You sat on the beach chair as you watched Tom and Harrison set up the volleyball net. You laughed lightly as the bar almost smacked Tom in the head, Tom yelled at Harrison as he laughed. They set up the net and called you and the boys over you walked over, while Tom kept his eyes on your figure. “Let's pick teams!” Harrison yelled as he jogged over to Tom nearly tripping on the sand.

“Y/n is on my team!” yelled Harrison before Tom could say anything.

“What! Why?”

“Because she gets competitive against you. And usually wins when that happens.” Tom rolled his eyes while you laughed at the boys bickering

“Fine. But Harry and Paddy are mine.”

Everyone split up and went onto their sides of the net before starting the game. You played through the game getting more competitive against Tom as Harrison said, you trash talked to Tom. “You’ll never win against me. I’m undefeated.” you grinned before serving the ball at fast speeds, it flew quickly hitting Tom in the face with a smack. “Oh my god!” you covered your mouth with your hands before running over to Tom moving under the net, all while Harrison fell down the ground laughing hysterically. “Oh god, are you ok Tom?” you dropped next to him holding his shoulder as he held his nose. “You’re going to pay for that.” your face filled with confusion, in one swift movement you picked you up by your hip swinging you over his shoulder. “Tom! Put me down!” he ran towards the water, dropping you in the water once he was deep enough.

“Tom! It’s cold!”

“That's what you get for hitting my beautiful face!”
“I'm sorry,” you said in between shivers

“Aw. Come here darling.” he walked over to you and wrapped his arms around your waist pulling you closer to himself. “How are you always so warm?” you laughed as you pressed yourself against his warm body. “Just for you darling.” he laughed, you looked into his warm comforting eyes before the boys came running into the water splashing everyone around them.

You felt tears start to weld up in your eyes from the happy memories of them, that Tom seemed to ignore. “I'm sorry I can't do this.” you stood up from the table and made your way out the front door. Harrison gave Tom a glare as the whole family sat quietly is confusion.

You always found yourself at peace at the ocean. The sound of the waves crashing filling your ears as you walked on the soft sand, the one place where you could be left alone with your thoughts. You stood along the water tears staining your face once again, as painful memories filled your head.

“She said she doesn’t want us to be friends if I date her.” your eyes widened at the statement. You sat at a diner booth with Harrison and Tom with a milkshake in front of you. “And?” you asked afraid of the answer. “Of course I'm not going to leave you Y/n! You’re my best friend, I’m not going to leave you for some girl.” Tom grabbed your hand as he looked into your eyes, relief flooded over you from his answer. “So what are you going to do mate?” Tom shifted his attention to his friend, letting go of your hand. “Well, I’m going to have to break up with her.” Tom shrugged, Harrison nodded to his friend signaling him it was the right thing to do. “I’ll do it later tonight. I better go get ready. I’ll see you guys later.” Tom stood up from the booth and headed out the door. You were still in shock from the whole conversation, she seemed like a nice girl, you even considered her a friend. You never thought she would tell Tom to stop talking to you.

Harrison bumped you with his shoulder bringing you out of your thoughts. “This is your chance. You can tell him.” you smiled at him “Really?” “Yes, really.” he laughed, you grinned happily getting up from the table and giving Harrison a tight hug “Thank you. What would we do without?” “Probably get yourselves killed.” you laughed before sprinting out the door.

You smiled happily as you headed out your house making your way towards Toms. You were finally going to tell Tom that you loved him and always have, when you finally realized you loved him with the help of Harrison. He had a girlfriend, so you kept it to yourself, you didn’t want to ruin his relationship. Unfortunately, you were moving the next day, you didn’t tell him yet afraid of what would happen to your friendship, but you planned on telling him tonight, you wanted to tell him everything.

You walked up to his house, you raised your hand to knock on the door before you saw two figures in the corner of your eye. Two bodies pressing against each other with lips pressed against the other.

Tears started rolling down your face, you’ve never seen Tom and his girlfriend ever kiss, break up with her my ass. Does that mean he was going to leave you? For her. You covered your mouth to keep sobs from coming out, tears running down you ran back home, crawling into your bed you cried yourself to sleep that night. The next day getting on your plane to your new home.
