Trigger Warning! Read at own risk.
The club was blurry as strobe lights and lasers filled the room. I could hardly see in front of me as we walked over to the bar. Lyndsay ordered us shots and my mind instantly went to me drinking all night and having the time of my life, but I clearly knew that it wasn't a very responsible decision. "Not too many," I shouted over the loud dance music. "I don't wanna have a hangover." I was never really a drinker. I dabbled in alcohol over the years and maybe a handful of times at University, but I couldn't ever acquire a taste for it like some people. "Come on! Let's have fun!" She shouted as I was handed a shot. I downed it, feeling the burn rush down my throat and enter my empty stomach. I couldn't hold my alcohol, so we'll see how this turns out.
I started to let loose when Lyndsay pulled me on the dance floor. We didn't dance for long because her new potential boyfriend showed up with his friend. He smiled at me and this had to be the guy she was talking about. "Harper this is Austin." Lyndsay quickly introduced us. I smiled at him again when he said, "Hello," A blush crept up on my face. I haven't flirted with a man in over two years. Mainly due to working too much and trying to get a promotion, so I was nervous to even communicate with him.
Austin and I eventually settled into one of the corners of the club and took a seat on the couch. We started with small talk and learned a little bit about each other. He was an architect and lived in New York for the last year. He is originally from Florida, but moved up here for work. He was twenty nine years old.
"Do you like dancing?" He asked when an upbeat song came on. I sipped my drink and nodded. "I love dancing, but me and drunk and dancing aren't so good together." He smirked and grabbed my hand. I beg to differ, now come on." Austin pulled me out to the dance floor. I had to admit that he was good looking. His hair was short and blond, and he had eyes that were an emerald green. His build was stalky and tall. He wasn't exactly fit, but he was totally rocking the dad bod.
I started dancing with Austin, having a great time and laughing with my best friend. Austin bought everyone a round of shots, and I politely denied. "Come on!" Everyone cheered. I was being sucked in by peer pressure. My hand reached for the shot and I downed it. The familiar burn was really starting to get to me. I had already had two shots, a raspberry martini and a fuzzy navel. Austin pulled me out onto the dance floor again. I was feeling dizzy and wanted to sit down. I looked around for Lyndsay who was consumed in her date and I didn't want to bother her.
Austin grabbed my hips and that immediately got my attention. I tried to remove his hands but the just gripped harder. "Hey, calm down." He whispered. I got tunnel vision and instantly felt sleepy. My mouth was moving but the only thing that came out was incoherent mumbling. My feet felt numb as I was dragged out of the club. The only reason I knew we left the club was because the music was faint and I felt a chill on my arms. "Shh, shh, shh," I heard as hot breath was going down my neck. I wanted to push him away but my arms felt too heavy. Then, that's when I knew what was happening. Austin knew I couldn't handle my liquor so he got me drunk and drugged me. I just met this guy and it's a girls worst nightmare. I didn't want to be sexually assaulted but I knew by the way his hands traced my sides and his physical dominance that he was going to try.
"Please don't..." I mumbled out. I tried to raise my voice, but I couldn't find the energy. "Austin... NO!" My voice was hoarse, and the only defense mechanism I thought of was to kick him where it really hurt. I pulled all my energy together and kneed him in his jewels. Austin fell over and I slid to the concrete not having any energy to get up. Austin regained his strength and I tried to crawl away. He pinned me to the ground and I felt the helplessness overwhelm me. I started to cry as he reached for his belt buckle. I mean, I wasn't a small framed girl. I had some curve to me and there was no way in hell I was gonna escape this. The back door to the club opened and I heard the music get louder for a few seconds before I started to blacked out. I could hear bits of what was happening. Austin was pulled from me and ended up God knows where. The sound of someone being beat up played in my ears. "Oh my god! Harper!" I heard Lyndsay say before everything was black and I heard nothing at all.
