    A/N

Super short chapter! The rest won't be this short, just wanted to get a glimpse of the story out there before I published more. I know there isn't a lot of information about the story in this first chapter but let me know what you think. All feedback is good feedback!

The wind whistled through the air as thunder boomed from above. A crack of lightning illuminated the sky allowing the girl to have a better sense as to what was in front of her. She had been running for a long time now, fearing that if she stopped, she would be found. And that if she were found she would die. She leaped over a fallen tree that would have caused her to fall had the lightning not shown it to her. The storm continued to brew above, not caring that a storm was the last thing this girl could afford to have happen. Yet the sky above had no mercy for those below as the dark swirling clouds began to release rain upon the earth. In a matter of minutes she was soaking wet, the shower running down her cheeks like the tears she had not allowed to fall. Crying was a sign of weakness, and she could not allow herself to show how weak she truly was. Continuing to run through the rain she tried her best to ignore how cold she had become as the rain soaked her clothes. She rolled down the arms of her black sweatshirt as she hopelessly tried to conceal herself from the relentless downpour that mother nature had unleashed upon the forest. Mud splashed up her legs as her bare feet pounded into the earth, shoes were not a luxury she had been given. Her dark brown hair whipped behind her as she raced forward, her heart pounding and her breathing labored. She had pushed her body past its limits and then some more, so it was a surprise to even her that she had not merely collapsed at this point. 'Please, only a couple more miles' she pleaded to herself, she had to find somewhere safe to stop. Deep inside she knew there was nowhere safe to stop and she would most likely die of exhaustion before she could even find her way out of this godforsaken forest.

Streaks of white light continued to flash across the pitch black sky, cleaving the darkness in parts as thunder shook the earth. Each boom and flash coming faster than they did before, she was running straight into the belly of the beast. Black dots flashed across her vision, 'No not now' she screamed in her head, knowing those black dots meant her world would soon turn the same color. 'We have to stop,' a voice in her head tried to reason. 'If we stop we die' she shot back at the voice in her head, silencing it. Nonetheless, she allowed herself to slow her pace, just a bit so she wouldn't pass out amongst the trees. Running was all she knew, and she was damn good at it.

Another hour had passed as her feet continued to fly over stones and leaves, the cold air biting into her lungs as her breath came in short gasps. She was nearly choking on the rain at this point as it shot out of the sky hitting her face like needles. Her legs were as black as her sweatshirt by this point, covered in mud. She had no pants to protect her from it, only a skimpy pair of shorts that were covered by the sweatshirt that fell mid-thigh on her small frame.

She had run further than humanly possible, and the adrenaline that had been coursing through her veins started to wear off. It was like she could feel every muscle in her body now and they were on fire. She finally collapsed into the forest floor, sliding through the mud from the force of her impact. The wind was knocked out of her as she collided to the ground. All the girl could do was lay there in agony face first in the mud, her cheek pressed against mother nature's floor. Accepting her fate, proud that she had made it this far she closed her eyes, the lightning occasionally causing the blackness behind her eyelids to turn grey as the brilliant shocks of white light ripped through the sky. She finally had found peace after all this time. Or so she thought. A growl roared through the air, almost louder than the thunder, causing her eyes to shoot open.
