Chapter Seventeen

We are in the middle of playing Dance Mania when I get a text.

All set up. Be here in half an hour.

"Who is it?" Noah asks as I slide my phone into my pocket. "Just Josh wondering if I'm ok." I smile up at him. The weather is kind of humid today and we have to stop dancing after a while. He looks at me quickly before checking his phone. Have to do this now.

"Give me your keys." I blurt out. Noah arches his brow as he slowly looks up at me. "Why?" My face turns tomato red. "I have a suprise for you and I have to drive because I need you to be blindfolded." My voice comes out rushed. He shrugs and laughs a little before pulling the Range Rover's keys from his pocket. I reach out to take it but he holds it above my reach. "Promise me you won't crash my baby." He mocks as he stares down at me. Curse my short stature. "I promise, Noah. Please give." I stand on my tiptoes to reach for the keys but he swoops his arm around my waist and crashes his lips onto mine. I melt into the kiss but quickly pull away when I feel the keys in my palm. I lead Noah to the car and pull a blindfold over his eyes. I walk around to the driver's seat and slide in. Did I mention I got my license last week? Still new to the car, I put the keys in the ignition and the car roars to life.

Noah winces slightly as we drive. Each time I go over a speedbump or stop at a red light, he pulls a face. "Stop it." I laugh slightly as we stop at the red light. "Now, what is this surprise?" He slightly turns in his seat. I made sure the blindfold is very thick. "It wouldn't be a surprise if I told you, now would it?" He just shrugs and falls back into the seat. I turn into the entrance eventually and park the car. "Are we here?" Noah asks and tries to reach for the blindfold but I slap his hand away. "Not yet." We walk down the wooden walkway on the beach to the tiki bar where all our friends are. It's dead quiet as everyone stares at us.

I admire the stage they put up and the decor. Alice and Tori are amazing. We finally reach the tiki bar and everyone smiles. I walk around to Noah's back and take off the blindfold.

"SURPRISE!" Everyone yells. Noah's face lights up as he takes in everything around him. Then he starts laughing. I'm about to go to Tori when his hand wraps around my wrist and he pulls me into him. "Thank you so much, Layla." He whispers and kisses me like he's never kissed me before. We're about to start making out when Alice pulls me away. "You had the whole day." Her eyes roll. "Happy birthday." They hug and Noah frowns. "It's your birthday too." He looks between us. "You know I hate celebrating." Alice just laughs and turns back towards the bar. One after the other, all our friends come to say happy birthday. Alice told me she hates celebrating her birthday and that's why we decided to only have Noah's party.

The afternoon continues on as Noah blows out the candles on his cake and unwraps all our presents. Alexia, Ryan and Marilize showed up earlier and are chatting with all our other friends. Alice also got a few gifts and wanted to murder us for buying her things but it's her birthday too.

When the sun begins to set, I start panicking slightly. The band hasn't arrived yet. I look over to Tori and see she's on the phone. Her hand gestures wildly as words rush from her mouth. After a few minutes she lets out a sigh, hanging up. Then she walks to the stage.

"Hello all!" A loud cheer erupts. "Thank you, thank you. Now, the moment you've all been waiting for. The main reason for inviting the band is because, well our birthday boy loves Australia and they actually come from Australia!" She glances around the stage to check for the band. There's a look of relief on her face as she turns towards us.

"Put your hands together for 5 Seconds of Summer!"

We all start applauding the band as they walk onto the stage. The first one to walk up is a guy named Luke Hemmings. He has these outrageously beautiful blue eyes and his hair is messy with stubble on his jawline. The other band members follow soon. "Hello all you party goers!" Luke yells into the microphone in his Australian accent. The crowd goes wild and Noah just grins from ear to ear. I'm so glad he's enjoying it. "As you know, we're 5 Seconds of Summer. I'm Luke, the Asian looking dude that is actually half Kiwi is Calum Hood, the guy with the pink hair is Micheal Clifford and on the drums we have Ashton Irwin!" We all scream as the band waves at us. They start off with a song called Don't Stop and everyone starts dancing as drinks are being lifted in the air.

When Luke starts with Better Man, Noah takes my hand to lead me towards the dance floor.

"Darling, all of my wrongs, they led me right to you. Wrapped in your arms, I swear I'd die for your love." He silently sings along as he spins me around the floor. I giggle as he dips me. "Thank you." He whispers close to my ear as we sway along to the music. I blush and hide my face in his shoulder. He deserves the world. Noah Huntington with his brilliant blue green eyes and breathtaking smile, swept me off my feet.

As the night continues, drinks are being served and eventually the band takes a break. Luke heads over to the bar just as I turn back from getting my drink. "Hello there. What would you recommend?" His Aussie accent has me weak. "Uh, probably just a beer. I haven't tasted the cocktails yet." I giggle slightly and my cheeks turn pink. "Well aren't you cute? What's your name?" He cocks an eyebrow at me with a cheeky smile. "Layla Archer." His eyes widen a little bit. "You're birthday boy's girl?" He asks me just as Noah comes over. "Yes sir. Man, I'm such a huge fan. I can't believe they booked you guys." Luke shakes his hand and the two boys laugh. "Well we had a day off from a gig in San Francisco and the young lady that booked us was so sweet, we couldn't say no."

I feel like tonight was a huge success.
