Chapter 15: My rival lover

One month passed. We're back in Australia.

Joy started to live with me and mom while Kai moved in with Wendy. Apparently those two had something going on between them. I had no idea.

"You're socially awkward and you have basically no idea about interhuman relationships. Of course you had no idea." Was all Kai said to me about that.

I sat at the beach and watched the sunset while hugging my plush orca.

"Hey, Joshua. Can I join you?" I turned around and saw Joy smiling at me. I patted the sand beside me and she sat down.

"Hey, guess what I brought with me. Tadaa~" Joy showed me what she was hiding behind her back. It was a plush dolphin. MY plush dolphin. I widened my eyes and looked at her in surprise.

"You still have it? Oh my gosh... And it's even in perfect condition!" Joy chuckled and placed both plushies next to each other.

"You told me to watch out for it back then. It was a gift from the boy I liked the most, so of course I watched out for it. You know... I liked you back then when we were kids. No, I even loved you. But my stupid pride didn't let me admit that. I'm sorry. We could've been friends way sooner."

"It's okay. Don't worry about that. I liked you too. That's why I gave the dolphin to you. Did I ever tell you the story I used to tell my mom when she asked about my plushies? I told her that the orca whale and the dolphin were engaged and that they would marry soon. And I promised to myself that I would give the dolphin to my future girlfriend... or even wife."

Joy and I looked at each other.

"You know... When I first saw you, I never thought that you might be my rival. I never thought you might be my friend. I never thought you might be my... Lover. But now, you're all of this. And I don't want to change that, ever. Joy... Would you be my rival lover forever?"

My girlfriend kissed me softly and smiled brightly.

"Of course, dummy. I'll stay with you. Forever."

"Sooo, you wouldn't kill me, if I did this now?" I asked while getting out a ring from my pocket.

Joy gasped and looked at me in disbelief. I just nodded.

Joy pushed me hard, what made me fall into the sand. But she immediately climbed on top of me and kissed me passionately.

"You're such a stupid moron, you know that?"

"So... Is that a yes?" I asked, still confused.

"Yes, but just because it's you! You pabo gisa!"

I smiled brightly and slid the ring on Joy's finger. Then I kissed her again.

Wow... I really love my life.
