Fuyuko x Mondo (Angst? Breakup): Burn

I saved every letter you wrote me
From the moment I saw you

The pain had really gotten to her. All that sweet talk. All of those times they had been together, spent time comforting each other and talking and look where he ends up. Just because she had morals and boundaries he goes running to these other girls to get in their pants. All those times he left sweet love letters on her desk so that she would see them when she woke up from working too hard.

He had been ditching their dates for the past month to satisfy himself. The third time it happened, she knew something was up and started talking to her best friend, Hibiki Akiyama, about it. Hibiki was, of course, pissed off that he dare break her friend's heart just so he could get with the sexiest girl possible and see how they were in bed.

She grabbed the folder of letters she had collected over the past couple of months. Yes, his handwriting wasn't of standard, but she found it cute that he tried. Well, she did. Now, she was just angrily pacing back and forth in front of the fireplace. She had him light a fire before he suddenly had to leave for 'gang business'. She listened to the door swing open and a satisfied sigh come from the doorway. A figure approached her, but before he could say or do anything, she turned to face him with a face filled with anger.

I'm burning the letters you wrote me
You can stand over there if you want
I don't know who you are
I have so much to learn

"What's with that face, babe? And why're ya holding those old letters and shit?" He asked, slightly oblivious as to why her face was scowled. Her response was snarled.

"I think you know why." And then he realized.

"Come on, babe-"

"No." He tried to take a step forward and reason with her, but she pushed him back and turned to the fire.

I'm re-reading your letters
And watching them burn

And then, she threw all the letters into the fire.

I'm watching them burn

Owada rushed to try to save them, but they were already in flames and falling to pieces.

You published the letters she wrote to you
You told the whole world
How you brought this girl into our bed
In clearing your name, you have ruined our lives

She threw a tied bundle of envelopes at his chest, tears in her eyes and face contorted in anger.

Heaven forbid someone whisper
"He's part of some scheme"

He looked at them.

"These are from-?"

"DON'T YOU DARE SAY THEIR NAMES!" She screamed at the top of her lungs with her hands over her ears.

I know about whispers

He looked at her with regretful eyes, but all she could see was betrayal. Hibiki had been stalking him every so often for Fuyuko and had given news on a lot of the girls he hooked up with. When Hibiki had talked to him while he was waiting for his next hookup, she felt uncomfortable with the way he looked at her. And of course, she told Fuyuko that.

"I'm not stupid Owada! I know what you've been doing behind my back!" Her body shook with emotion as she yelled at him. She had never used his surname since they started dating. She hated that he was handsome. She hated that he was so popular like his friends Leon Kuwata or Kiyotaka Ishimaru. Except they weren't likely to betray, no matter how much of a playboy Kuwata was and no matter how naive Ishimaru was. Those two wouldn't betray like Owada had.

I'm erasing myself from the narrative

All he did was stand there and watch as she took the bundle of letters from all of the girls that he made love to and one by one, burned them unopened. The fire grew bigger and bigger as she kept feeding it what it wanted.

Stand back, watch it burn

He made an attempt to approach her, but she used the flaming letters as defense against him. She made sure he couldn't get to her. She refused to be anywhere near him.

And when the time comes

She threw all the fiery letters to the ground in a fit of rage, tears still streaming down her face. Her hands were balled into fists. She was wearing an old Crazy Diamonds jacket but when she remembered she had it on, she tore it away from her body and threw it at him.

Explain to the children

The two had adopted German Shepherds together and named them Tiger and Bear. The two male dogs scampered downstairs to Fuyuko's side once they had scented the burning paper.

The pain and embarrassment

The dogs defensively stood by her, snarling at Owada. Her eyes told him the reason why they acted like this. He had left her to train them alone for a month. They didn't trust him anymore.

She stood, running with the dogs upstairs and slamming the door to their room

When will you learn

Mondo slammed his fist on the door. She locked it. That door and those dogs weren't her only defense though, he knew that.

That they are your legacy?

He walked away and she came out moments later with all of her things in a suitcase. The dogs followed her.

We are your legacy

She stormed to the front door and opened it, walking outside into the crisp night air. The heat of her rage was still fresh though. She looked back at him, tears streaming down both of their faces. This was his fault.

If you thought you were mine

He made one last attempt to stop her as she was leaving, but she noticed instantly and put her hand up, stopping him in his tracks.

"Don't."
