“Thank you for choosing me, milady,” Lute commented. “I shall do everything in my power you protect Your Royal Highness.”
Lute kneels down before me and bows his head, pledging his loyalty.
“Thank you…”
“Now, Princess. Shall we go?” he asked.
I turn to Grandma.
“Grandma, I…”
“Sophie…” Grandma said. “No, Princess Sophie. Please take care of yourself.”
“You take care too, Grandma. And thank you… for everything.”
“I was so happy spending all these days with you…” she commented.
Grandma says with a smile, but I can see tears welling up in her eyes.
“Lute, take care of Princess Sophie.”
“Do not worry, Lady Tome,” Lute replied. “Your hand, Princess.”
Lute extends his hand to me. I put my hand in his and he helps me into the carriage.
“Sophie, take care!” Grandma cried.
She waves at me. As the carriage takes me away from her. I can see her getting smaller and smaller through my tears.
The carriage carrying me and the knights travels away from the village.
“Grandma…”
“Girls are always like this,” Shion commented. “Crying like they’ll never see each other again.”
“That’s enough, Shion,” Lute stated. “You’re being rude to the Princess. Please use this, milady.”
Lute holds out his handkerchief at the exact same time as Haku.
“Use it,” Haku said.
Which one should I take…? Well… Lute is my personal guard…
“Thank you, Lute.”
“Of course, milady,” he smiled.
“…My handkerchief is crying,” Haku commented.
Lute’s handkerchief smells pleasant, faintly of herbs. It is folded up neatly, clearly showing its owner’s personality.
“Let me introduce myself again, Princess. I am Lute,” he introduced, “a knight of the chivalric order of the Kingdom of Rapier.”
“Faithful, serious, and excellent with a sword,” Kenny added.
“I’m happy that such a knight is my protector… Thank you, Sir Lute.”
“Please, you don’t have to call me Sir, my Princess,” he stated. “Because we live to serve Your Royal Highness.”
“Lute’s weaknesses are that he’s so uptight he can’t take joke, and that he’s nagging,” Shion informed.
“You forgot one,” Haku implied. “He seems like the perfect noble knight, but women are crawling all over him…”
“What?”
Surprised, I glance at Lute, but he maintains his composure.
“I don’t like being put in the same category as Haku,” Lute implied. “I am not doing anything wrong.”
“Lute’s always like this,” Shion commented. “That’s why we always call him an airhead.”
He seems very serious but is actually an airhead? I wonder what that means…
