Location: The cubicles
A male canine wakes up in a white room. The numbers 3333 are burned into his arm. He scratches at them, and winces.
#3333: Where...where am I?
#3333 looks around, and spots his glasses on the floor. He picks them up and balances them on his snout. He blinks. He is in a completely empty room. The only decoration is a vent near the ceiling, and a glowing number: 5. #3333 repeats the number to himself, and turned to the vent.
#3333: Hello? Is anyone there?
#3333's voice echos. From the other side of the cubicle, a cough sounds. The noise also echoes.
#3333: Hello? Who's there?
(Shot of #3348)
#3348: Me. I'm there. Here. Stop shouting. My head hurts...
(Back to #3333)
#3333: What's -what's your name?
(Shot of #3348 peering at her wing)
#3348: I don't remember. But there is this...number in my wing. It says...number 3348. Whatever that means. I'm losing feathers because of it.
(Back to #3333)
#3333: My number's 3333 if-if that's any help.
#3348 groans.
#3348: No. Not really.
#3333: Wh-where are we?
#3348: Not sure. But we'll probably find out soon.
(Shot of #3348)
#3348 notices a glowing number five on her wall near the vent. She takes note of it. Her brain races with possibilities of passwords and codes.
(More of #3333)
#3333 moves to a wall. He notices a keypad in the wall. He reaches out a paw and presses it. The keypad beeps loudly.
#3348: What did you do?!
#3333: I touched a keypad. It's in my wall. It says to input number.
(Shot of #3348)
#3348's mind visibly clicked.
#3348: What is the number on your wall?
#3333: Five.
#3348: Same here. Put the five in the keypad. I'm doing the same.
(More of #3333)
#3333 obeyed. The keypad clicks. A door appears in the wall, sliding open and revealing a long white hallway. #3333 hesitantly steps out. Halfway down the hallway, two corridors sat across from each other. Upon studying them, #3333 finds that they also split into more corridors.
#3333: This...this is a maze. We have to find our way out...
Location: The control room
(Cut to a dark office filled with screens showing the other subjects)
Haki: Well, that was fast. Two out already.
(A male gecko scrambles up.)
Disas: Maybe we shouldn't be doing this. We know that reptiles are the dominant species. Let these others go home.
Haki: But perhaps reptiles are not the dominant species. That dog has shown quite a bit of potential. I want to keep testing.
Disas stares at the screens. Seven test subjects had already made it to the maze as they spoke. The others seemed to be stuck. One particular subject, a mouse, appeared to be panicking. He kept moving towards the keypad, hesitating, and walking back to the glowing number on his wall, muttering frantically. Disas sighs.
