Soon as I walked into Iverson's house, I headed straight to the kitchen. He was like a brother to me and his house was my house, or at least I felt that way. He didn't come in right away, I think he stuck outside to holler at Ayla. That fool was forever trying to spit game. Ayla probably wasn't interested anyway.
In the fridge, I found a whole lot of stuff that didn't look too good: old pizza, nearly empty containers of condiments, soda cans and a lot of protein shakes. Damn, when was the last time they went grocery shopping? I decided to just settle for a can of Coke and grabbed one. As soon as I closed the fridge door and turned around, Iverson stood a couple steps away from me with that dumbass smirk he always gets on his face when he's up to something.
"Something funny?" I popped the Coke open and took a sip.
"Nah man, just something....interesting." Iverson raised his eyebrow at me.
I rolled my eyes and took at seat at the table in his kitchen. I could sense when Iverson was about to grill me, so I figured why not take a seat and let it begin.
"So what's up with you and Ayla?" He sat across from me at the table.
"Nothing." I took another sip of Coke.
"Oh really?" He raised both eyebrows and sat back in his chair. "I've never even seen y'all speak before and suddenly she giving you a ride home?"
"She offered. It's hot as hell and I wasn't gonna walk, so I was like sure." I flicked the tab on the Coke can a couple times and avoided eye contact with Iverson.
"Aight bruh, whatever you say." He put his hands up to show he was dropping the issue.
"So what we getting into tonight?" I was glad we were done talking about Ayla and changed the topic.
"Aww shit, I heard about a party at Vance's tonight. And you know Vance, it's gonna be hella hoes there!" This nigga looked like he was gonna jump up out of his chair.
"Sounds cool, what time?"
"Starts at 9 and ends whenever."
I started to think about what I had planned for tomorrow. Summer school. But that was the last thing on my mind and besides, one little party couldn't hurt. Iverson got up from the table and offered me a blunt, so we smoked a couple and then crashed before the party. Once we got to the party, I felt like I was truly in my element. Loud was all in the air, drinks were flowing and there were hoes as far as the eye could see. I was looking for something- and maybe somebody- to get into tonight. Soon as I walked in the door, Vance came up and handed me a cup and a blunt.
"Nigga what is this?" I tilted the cup to see there was some brown liquor and ice in it.
"Don't worry about it, O. Just take a sip, grab a bitch and kick back!" Vance patted me on my back and motioned for me and Iverson to follow him deeper into the house. Music was blasting and I could see girls eyeing me from all sides.
"Hey stranger." A female voice came from behind me. I had the blunt in my mouth and almost dropped it when I turned around. It was Karina Scott. She was a friend of mine but also one of the baddest girls around. She had milk chocolate skin and was wearing a tight black crop top and bleached high waisted jean shorts. I noticed she had dyed her hair dark red and it was straightened and down to her breasts. We had messed around in the past, but she hung around too many dudes and it got messy so I had to cut her off.
"Wassup Karina?" I took the blunt out of my mouth and put in in the same hand as my cup so I was holding it with two fingers. My eyes roamed her body down to her feet then back up to her eyes.
