To say that today was a bad day would be an understatement. Everything that could went wrong. The clients were rude, complaining about every detail and taking their stress out on you. The weather was much colder than you expected and you didn't have time to go back home for jacket or anything. Your taxis were driven by the worst drivers you've ever seen and the traffic was unbelievably bad. Everything sucked.
That's how you found yourself at Dazai's doorstep. You knocked gently and, recognizing your characteristic way of doing so, it only took him a few seconds to open the door. One look at you was enough for him to know what was going on. He stepped aside wordlessly, his face an emotionless façade, letting you in. You dragged yourself to his couch and basically collapsed on it. He chuckled in that charming way of his. "My my, it must've been a truly horrible day," amusement was dripping from his voice but you also noticed the concern and silent understanding. Still you only grumbled a 'shut up' without so much as turning your head to the side so the couch wouldn't muffle your words. "I'd like to but you know the drill, the shower comes first," he sighed as he brushed your hair behind your ear. You murmured something inaudible and got up. It was harder than it should be but right now, even breathing seemed like a chore. He led you to his bathroom even though you knew the way by heart from the many times you spent the night here. It was comforting to realize how familiar with his apartment you've become.
Once there, he started to take off your clothes slowly. "Daz-" he cut you off by laying his index finger against your lips. "Hush now," he whispered, letting his finger gently brush against your soft skin. His look was so soft you wondered whether he was doing this for you or for himself. It was probably a strange mix of both; he did act a bit off the last few days as well. Maybe that's why you came here in the first place – in search of a soul as tired as yours.
You let him peel off your shirt gently, his fingers caressing your sides lightly, almost tickling. Your pants and socks followed. His movements were slow; careful as if he worried you'd panic had he moved any faster. "The rest you can take care off alone," he said quietly as he placed a feather-light kiss on your bare shoulder. He then turned and left the room, closing the door after himself without a sound. You traced the spot he kissed before with your fingertips. A small smile found its way on your lips.
Shaking your head, you turned on the hot water and laid yourself into the tub. You flinched at first, feeling the water scalding your skin but it was exactly what you needed as if somehow you could boil the toxicity of the day away. You let the water flow, focusing solely on the noise it made and drowning your thoughts out. You exhaled deeply and slid further down, your face now the only part of your body above the water surface. Your body pulsated with warmth, every single one of your muscles relaxed and you felt the tension slowly fading. You closed your eyes and fully submerged, letting the water close above you and envelop you in its welcoming embrace. Little bubbles left your lips as you breathed out slowly. Your [h/l] hair flowed around your head and intertwined with the liquid, dancing sensually on your skin. For the first time today you felt in peace. Welcomed, accepted and loved. No wonder Dazai tried to drown so many times if it felt like this.
Only when your lungs begged for oxygen did you emerge from the warm crib of water lolling you to sleep. You took deep breathes, calm despite the rush of your heart. You made no move to rise and actually wash yourself, opting to rest in peace for a while longer. Your mind flickered from one thing to another slowly, never keeping focus on one topic longer than few seconds before the image changed as the minutes ticked by. The room was filled with steam and it was getting hard to breathe but you didn't mind one bit. It was perfect. You were safe and sound, finally alone. Your body was throughout hot and relaxed. Your thoughts now were a strange fusion of day-dreams and hallucinations more than anything else. You were getting dizzy, maybe it was time to leave.
