Based on the Panic! At The Disco song
There were very few things you liked about company banquets. You had to get all dressed up, spend the evening talking to people that didn't deserve to get paid nearly as much as they did, and you couldn't even get drunk because your boss was there.
When you met Alexander, the banquets became a little more bearable. As your boss gets up to make a speech, you give Alexander a glance, walking out of the room. He follows not long after, pulling you into a bathroom and ignoring everything that makes this wrong.
That was you unspoken agreement. You would spend the banquet with each other, then return to work without acknowledging what happened. A few of your coworkers would give you a knowing look, but you never confirmed their suspicions. They didn't need to know every detail of your life.

Mr. Washington walks onto the stage, grabbing a microphone and beginning his speech. Just as you begin to stand up, your friend grabs your arm. "Don't do anything stupid."
You roll your eyes and continue on your way. "When have I ever."
When you see Alexander, you immediately push his jacket off, but he stops you. "I should probably tell you something."
"What?"
"I'm engaged."
Your eyes widen as you take a step back. "Since when?"
"That's not the-"
"More than a year?"
He nods, causing you to sigh. You knew you shouldn't have begun this in the first place, but you thought he was single, so there wasn't anyone to hurt, right?
"Congratulations." You make your way back to your seat, sitting next to your friend with a quiet "I did something stupid."
