joey's POV

"what do you mean I'm in deep shit?" i asked as i opened my car door and got in.

yes i can drive already, im 16, just turned, and I've gotten my license. im one of the oldest people in freshman year, so is rae, but she doesn't like it, nor is she 16 yet.

"do you think I'm stupid joe? i know that you were talking to raelynn," she said and my mouth dropped open.

"why would you care whether i talked to her? she doesn't mean anything to me, you mean way more to me than she does," i said lying straight through my teeth.

she sighed, "okay, but don't talk to her anymore, you need to get as distant from her as you can, or else i won't only expose what happened years ago, but I'll expose family problems."

"don't you think that's a little personal cole?" i asked.

"why would you care?" she asked back.

"i-uh-i dont," i stammered.

"that's what i thought, I'll see you tomorrow babe," she said and then hung up the phone.

i sat in my car. how am i going to tell rae this, colette literally has someone watching my every move. she's really possessive and i need to break up with her, but i cant risk having rae hurt.

i started my car and made my way home. i started to get really paranoid about my phone, like what if colette put something on it like a microphone so she can hear everything I'm saying. woah. i stopped my car. maybe that would explain why she knows so much.

i raced my car back home and left my phone in the car. "MOM," i shouted.

my mom came running from the living room, "what's wrong joe," she asked.

"i need a new phone, asap," i said.

"what why? didn't you just get one earlier this year?" she asked.

"yes, but mom, you know colette, my girlfriend?" i asked her.

"yeah, the one you never bring home so that i can meet," she answers, annoyed.

"well she's really possessive and i think when she took my phone she put something in it where she can hear me and everything i say because mom, she literally knows everything. i talked to rae today and minutes later cole called and said i was dead meat," i explained.

my mom stood there in shock, "okay uh, I'll get you one tomorrow okay? just don't use that phone too much," she said.

i nodded and kissed her cheek, "thanks mom," i said.

"you need to stay away from cole, break up with her, she isn't good for you joe," my mom said worriedly.

"but mom, i cant, i wouldn't even be dating her right now, she threatened rae, she said she would expose something that happened way before i met her and then today she said she was going to expose her family problems."

"I'm calling rae over right now," my mom said and she went back into the living room and grabbed her phone.

"mom don't," i said as a followed her, but she was already on the phone.

"yes hi, is raelynn there? this is joey's mom, i need to speak with her. no, no, she's not in trouble i promise."

i decided to leave the room and go up to my room. sophia's door was closed, she probably has her friend over. honestly when doesn't she.

i was just about to close my bedroom door when a familiar voice called my name.

"joey?"

i turned around and saw lexi, sophia's best friend. they've known each other for a while, but lexi is my age.
