I walked down the street with my little Chiri on my hand as I whistled a tune he always sang in the woods. Really he's the only friend I have because all my other friends thought I was wierd because I like the woods. Like REALLY like the woods. I'm practically homeless and made a small log shack in the woods to live in. And I've been there for 12 years so it does what it has to. But really I only come into town here and there to get drinks with a man I call pop, he's not really my dad but he's always there for me. My real dad died in a car crash a few months after I turned 5.
But I walked into the old bar and looked around for pop and sure enough there he was at the end. But something was different this time, he didn't have a drink? I walked over and sat beside him and tapped his shoulder. "Hey pop how you doin this evening?" I tapped the bar and asked for a shot of whiskey.
Pop was an old war veteran, he fought in Vietnam with his brother and they both came home. He stood real tall and skinny with long gray hair. He simply looked over to me and cracked the happiest smile I've ever seen. "Johnny boy it's so good to see you I got someone I actually want you to meet!"
"That's great pops who is it?" I asked looking around.
"Oh she'll be a minute she's in the little girls room." He said laughing as the bartender slid a shot to me.
Chiri flew to my shoulder and rested there as me and pops talked about our days.
Then pops turned and started out. "Hey Mia this is Johnny the boy I thought you'd get along with." He said patting my back
I sat up and turned to see the most beautiful girl id ever seen she wore a tight shirt with a loose pair of jeans. And she had her hair tied back in a long ponytail. And as she walked her hair whipped around behind her it was so long and a beautiful chestnut color. I must not have noticed my jaw drop because when she walked up she closed my mouth and I just sat there in awe. I turned to pops and asked him suddenly. "W-whos she compared to you?"
"Oh I never told you? She's my grand-daughter!" He said happy as can be.
My eyes went wide as I turned back to Mia. "H-hi I'm Johnny."
She shook her head smiling and looked at me. She had the most beautiful scarlet eyes. "Mia good to meet you" she held out her hand. As I took it i noted a few things, one, her hands were so soft, two, she smelled like chestnuts and roasted pecans, yes I smelled her I can't help it when I breath through my nose.
She then stood up and looked at pops and I "well I have to get going I have work to do so I'll see you tomorrow papaw and it was nice meeting you Johnny" she kissed pops cheek and started to the door when I watched her walk when suddenly pops grabbed my shoulder and yanked me back. He then whisper-yelled in my ear, "go walk her home be a gentleman!" He then stood me up and kicked me in the ass as I started to the door shooing me off.
