I stood up in front of Mia and glared at pops as I layed my hand on her head. "What're you doing here pops"

"Seeing just what you've done to my little girl" pops said walking up to me.

"Don't take another step, I don't care if you hurt me but if you even fucking graze Mia I will tear your throat out and hang you with it." I was glaring daggers at the man and was ready to kill.

Pops stopped and looked at Mia. "I got a hold of your dad yesterday, he wants you to come home." He turned and started walking away.

I turned and looked at Mia who was clinging to my leg. "Are you ok?"

She shook her head slowly.

"What's wrong?" I kneeled onto her level.

"I don't want to go home." She looked up crying.

"Its ok Mia" I hugged her tightly. "If you don't want to you don't have to." As If on que little chiri flew in and landed on Mia's leg.

He twisted his head and chirped softly as Mia held her hand to him. He stepped on and she looked up at me. "Lets run away" she looked very determined.

I shook my head slowly. "You're crazy, fine but if we're doing that I need to do something." I stood up and held my hand to her.

She took it and I pulled her up a bit to fast and she bumped into my chest. She looked at me blushing softly. "Well let's get going." She took my hand as we started for the store.

Time skip

We got to a hunting store and I immediately went to the knifes and grabbed a good sized hunting knife while Mia was enjoying herself looking at the crossbows. "You want one?" I asked her rubbing her back.

"Oh no I can't shoot a bow or a crossbow for that matter." She stepped back and looked at me.

"Pick one and I'll teach you" I went to the compound bow and grabbed a good hunting bow. I looked back at her and she had picked the crossbow she wanted. "Alright grab some ammo and let's go."

We walked to the counter with our picks and the teller rang them up. "That'll be fourty five hundred sir." I pulled out my wallet and put the money down in cash.

Mia looked at me shocked as we walked out. "What?" I looked at her and asked.

"How do you have that much money in cash?" She looked at me surprised.

"Oh don't ask. Now we got to get back to my place I have a bit of packing to do.

When we finally arrived I opened the hatch and had Mia climb down. When I stepped in I looked around. "I'm going to miss this place." I ran my hands on the boards holding it up. I grabbed my bag off the side of my bed and started packing. I finally rolled my bed and hung it on my pack looking at Mia. "We're about to go on a great adventure."

She smiled and looked at me. "We're already on it." She kissed my cheek and took my hand. "Come on were losing daylight."

I smiled and followed her to the top when I saw pops walking through the woods.

He had a gun.

I immediately grabbed Mia's waist and dragged her behind a fallen tree. I held my finger to my lips telling her to be quiet. I peeked over to the tree and saw him walking away. I grabbed the bow and readied an arrow. 'Just in case.' I moved my head telling Mia to follow me. We kept going deeper into the woods and ducking in and out of trees keeping out of his sight.

Eventually we got away and we were alone. We sat down and took a few minutes to rest from the running. I pulled the bow out and held it in my hands. "Its been a long time since I had to hunt. I stood and and drew the bow and found my target. A large groundhog walking across the forest floor, I slowed my breathing as I aimed the bow. I let the string go and the arrow a few moments later found it's mark, straight in the side of a groundhog causing it to fall on it's side. Dead. I walked to it and cut it's neck as I carried it back I pulled the arrow out of it and started picking up sticks as I saw the sun starting to fall.

"Is that dinner?" She asked slightly disgusted.

"Yeah sorry sweetheart we aren't eating five star meals out here sadly." I replied with a slight chuckle. I started a fire and cut the groundhog into manageable chunks. I skewered them and put them  on the fire prepping dinner for the night. I looked up at Mia who was holding one of her crossbow bolts fiddling with it. "What's the matter?" I asked scooting closer

She looked at me with tears brimming in her eyes. She latched onto me tightly. "I cant"
