Always There To Catch Me

James ducked almost automatically at Shannon's words as the crow bar smashed in to the opaque wall, a short scream escaped Shannon's lips as the air was dragged out of her lungs. Stepping back James hit hard against Colossus's chest causing the mountain of a man to transform in to his metal self. Striking again with his own metal arm sparks flew off as the metal connected, the sound of the two tough forms echoed across the room, pulling his knife from his pocket James striked hard against Colossus chest making the sick creature smile, he grabbed hold of James's throat ripping him off the ground, still with vice like grip around James neck he bashed his own skull against James skull.

"Master Assassin?" He mocked as a small trickle of blood started to flow from James eyebrow, still not releasing his grip he smacked him against the opaque wall, Shannon's pained moan the motivation for him to do it repeatedly, the cracks on the surface of the screen like wall deepened with every blow.

Shannon tried to block the torture and focus on James, she sent her beaten power slowly towards him, it desperately searched for a tiny opening. "I don't think so." Knight spat on realizing what she was attempting as he furiously pressed and pulled leavers. Another pained scream escaped Shannon's lips, her breath escaping her in heavy gasps as she pushed on the small cracks deepening.

Colossus hit James hard against the face making him lose his balance and fall to the ground, picking up his oppenant's dropped weapon, the metal predator starting flicking it through his fingers. James struggled on to his hands and knees, the small sounds of pain from Shannon his only reason for moving as a blow from Colossus's leg struck deep in to his ribs sending him back on his back air escaping him.

Colossus smiled a sick smile and stood over the broken Winter Soldier "Pathetic." He laughed as he brandished the knife in his hands. Just as he was about to lunge it down in to James sternum, his body stumbled back as if he had been shoved, his metal form melted away as he grabbed his ears as Shannon's power flew towards him by finding a tiny gap through the wall. James rose to his feet and struck as hard as he could against Colossus's body, the mountain of a man tried to protect himself by turning himself in to his armour but the onslaught of physical from James and mental from Shannon stopped himself.

James grabbed both 9mm guns from his sides, as he moved to aim them Colossus struck him hard with his leg, a last ditch attempt at surviving. James hit the opaque wall hard it smashed on impact, when he hit the ground tiny razor blade like pieces stuck in to his skin, he let out a shaky breath as his eyes flickered up to Shannon's sorry state, still in her chair, her body hanging heavily against the restraints, eyes dull almost lifeless. Knight groaned from his control panel, his skin cut to ribbons from the shattered glass. James attempted to turn on his side as the crunch of Colossus boots moving towards him made the adrenaline course through his brain, struggling for his gun that had fell from his left metal arm making his arm groan as his fingers grasped the metal of the weapon.

"That's not going to save you now." Colossus mocked as he returned to his metal form, the crowbar back in his hand, striking he slammed his leg on to James own making him wince, his grip tightened on his weapon, firing the gun the bullets ricocheted off the gladiator like beast, smirking he raised his own weapon high above his head.

"Arghhh." Colossus suddenly screamed.

"Now."Shannon shouted behind James as Colossus returned to his human form, on instinct James pulled the trigger, Colossus dropped to his knees as the bullet didn't bounce this time, the look of shock still across his features as his body slumped to the ground.

Struggling to his feet James stiffly moved towards Shannon she smiled as he began to gently remove her restraints, she grimaced as he removed the restraint from her head her blood and hair matted together. Her feet were unsteady when she was finally free from her chair, they almost buckled from her own weight as she hit James's hard chest, her eyelashes fluttered open as her dark eyes focused on his ocean blue.

"I need to...your arm is dislocated." James murmured as Shannon saw the pain in his eyes, she nodded as she braced herself for the pain. It hit her like a rock as it almost took her breath away. "Shh." James murmured as he nursed her in his arm. As she pulled away he wiped away a tear that Shannon hadn't even known was running. "Don't do that again." He spoke as Shannon wiped the blood from her nose he ran his fingers down her cheek.

"What save your life?" Shannon chuckled and quickly grimaced, gently he brushed his lips to hers.

"Don't leave me again." He murmured against them.

"Never," She turned as they turned to the door, ring in to the view of Knight holding on of James's gun shaking in his hand.

"Years of work destroyed." Knight spat as Shannon stood in front, guarding James, her right hand up in an attempt to calm her abuser, her blood chilled as she realized the gun was focused on James.

"Knight please think." The words barely made it out of her mouth "If you want someone to blame then it falls on me."

"Shannon no." James spoke making to move towards Knight, he held his gun tighter in warning as Shannon halted James's movement.

"I escaped to begin with...If I hadn't I would of never met James... Your experiments would still be here." At Shannon's words, Knight nodded refocusing on to her, for a second the world stood still until the echoing sound of Knight pulling the trigger vibrated across the walls, throwing her power against James body, sending him back on to his back, her eyes focused on Knight as the red hot agony of the bullet pierced the flesh of her stomach, she could feel her body fall as she shot her power in Knight's direction it hit him hard against his leg cracking on impact. Her body descended towards the ground as her body was saved in the warm sanctuary of James's arms.

"Always there to save me." She mumbled, pain radiated from her wound as she could feel her blood over her body.

"Why did you do that?" Tears pooled in James eyes, his ears noticed to Knight's own painful gasps, as red hot fury grasped him.

"Don't." Shannon whispered "Where better then him... you are better then him, death is too easy for him."

James ran his fingers threw Shannon's hair, blood covered her entire torso as he tried to fight the fear that ran in his thoughts. "Steve's here somewhere, Shannon look at me." James gently shook her in his arms as her eyes refocused on him "He'll get you to the Avenger's."

"James." It was almost a gasp.

"No don't you dare give up on me, I'm going to save you," He kissed her again gently and rose to his feet, her battered, bloody body in his arms.
