Chapter 1: The Night of the Peace Treaty(Reader POV)

This chapter might be a little shorter because it's the first and also will be the reader(your) point of view of the whole story. Hope you like it !
Without further ados,let's get to it.

The night Before the Fall

It was your last day at college before the summer holidays begun. You were glad to have some time off,because honestly, college was just sucking off your sanity with all the subjects and paperwork to deliver on time. Being a Veterinary Student wasn't easy but you sure don't regret this decision of yours not a slight bit. You just knew how hard it was but everytime you pictured yourself as a skilled veterinarian one day,your heart skipped a beat and you felt a lot of joy, and pride in it,so that's what kept you moving.

You were gathering your backpack and your other belongings and headed back home,feeling happy that you won't have to wake up so early on the day after. But you still need to prepare yourself for the next day because you'll have to practice some piano lessons your teacher gave you. Ah,the piano.. one of the hobbies you have most loved your entire life. With a relieved sigh, you basked in the sunset light planning yourself for the next day.
You were greeted by your mom when you arrived home and headed for the shower whilst smelling her cooking. "Dinner might be on in some minutes" you wondered.
After a pleasurable meal with your mother and dog laying in the soft ceramic floor,sound asleep,you turned on the TV and saw the broadcast of the so long waited Peace Treaty between Niflheim and the Kingdom of Lucis. At last the war was coming to an end and everyone was looking forward to it.
Every member of the Council was there,including King Regis himself and the mysterious chancellor of the Empire, Ardyn Izunia. You wondered why Prince Noctis wasn't there since he was the heir of the throne of the Kingdom,but then you remembered he was to marry Lady Lunafreya Nox Fleuret,of the Imperial Province of Tenebrae,in order to unite the two nations and bring peace at last. So he might have traveled to her side in order to speed up the reconciliation between the two countries. Makes sense..

The peace treaty was fluidly taking place when,suddenly,the broadcast was interrupted. Bad signal,you wondered? Well,it really didn't matter cause in the next morning you would read about it in the newspapers. So you just quit up watching it,and went straight to your room to get some sleep.

That's when it all started....

Approximately 2 hours after that, you were woken up by your mom with a huge suitcase all loaded up and not knowing what the hell was going on,you just stared at her with a vague expression. She said to hurry with her and there was no time for explanations right now. She helped you up packing some stuff and got a leather case holding your elemental daggers and put it on your back,but before exiting the room,you got a memento from your grandmother: a silver necklace with a marble clover pendant on it. It always gave you luck in all situations you had to use it,almost as if your grandma was protecting you from a bad omen..
You were relieved and somewhat felt safe to know how to fight and some survival skills,all thanks to your older brother,who worked with the Kingsglaives,so he knew how to fight pretty well and taught you into some of it always saying that someday you would need it. As it appears,that day has come..or not..
As you,your dog and your mother rushed downstairs, you could hear the sound of explosives and people yelling in pain and this sent a rush of adrenaline through your entire body. Your mom said that the Kingdom was deceived and the Empire used the Peace Treaty as the perfect opportunity to strike with full force. You looked up to the sky and froze in shock as you saw the Wall that protected Lucis for god-know-how many years shatter in a million of pieces.. and a sudden realization came into you: If the Wall is shattered than the King, King Regis is..
Your thoughts were interrupted as the sounds of more explosives went near you. You and your mother took cover behind a abandoned car. You two waited some minutes and then fleed to the boundary that separated Insomnia from the rest of Lucis but in the middle of this process not only you lost your dog but your mother was shot by Magitek Troopers right in front of you.. you cried out in pain and shared these last moments with her..

"MOM! PLEASE! I can't leave you behind ! I won't leave you here!" You said.
"My daughter..it appears that my time has come. Please take care of yourself and never,never let go of your grandmother's memento..I want you to fulfill your destiny as a Crownsguard,you are the hope of these people.. it seems that at last I'll join your brother in the afterlife.." She said,a hint of peace in her voice.
"Mom,please ! Don't leave me!" You shouted
"I'm sorry,my dear.. know that I love you and watch over you always..be strong.." and she gave her final breath.

And with these final words,your mom let go of your hand with a smile on her face and you cried uncontrollably wishing for the Six to just take you with her..

But you knew you had to be strong. For the both of you. Suddenly you heard a low barking,one that you recognized right away. It was your dog. She managed to survive and was trying to navigate the both of you through the piles of bodies and shattered objects lying on the floor.
