After an agonizing round of X-rays and paper work Mark was finally led to the waiting area where surprisingly Jackson was still there. Mark figured he would have to call a cab but was relieved to see him sitting there. He hobbled in on his crutches and cleared his throat, Jackson looked up from his phone and smiled seeing Mark.
"So what's the diagnosis?" Mark sighed looking at his knee.
"They said that nothing is torn or broken. It's just a bad sprain and I need to rest it and ice it and blah blah blah." He said handing over the release instructions. Jackson looked them over and nodded.
"It's doable, I'll take you home and take good care of you." Mark practically choked on the air.
"What? No, you don't have to take care of me. I'll be fine." He said shaking his head.
"Oh so you must have a boyfriend at home to help you then right?" He tried to disguise the disappointment in his voice but Mark still noticed. He looked at Jackson wondering if he heard right but figured he didn't and shook it off.
"No I don't, I just don't want to bother you. It was my fault after all."
After mentioning the word boyfriend Marks mood shifted quite a bit, it's only been one full day after all. He's quite happy for the distraction he's had, getting hit by a car will do that but also Jackson. He's been really great to him and he can't be more thankful for that.
Jackson helped Mark into the car and put his crutches into the back seat, as he got into the car he caught eyes with Mark who shyly smiled and turned away. He drove towards Marks place, remembering where it was due to the fact that he used to go there with BamBam when they were younger. After setting Mark up on the couch with his knee propped up Jackson went to the kitchen to make him some lunch. Mark slyly watched him the whole time with wonder in his eyes at the fact that Jackson had grown into such a caring man. He sits wishing he could find a boyfriend like that, someone who would care for him when he's down and enjoy the great moments in life too. His thoughts are just starting to turn dark when Jackson appears with a tray of delicious looking foods.
"Eat up! It will make you stronger." Jackson said with his signature smile. It's hard for Mark to feel sadness when he's around, he's always had the ability to light up a room with his smile alone but also his happy, carefree attitude.
After sharing a meal Jackson went to wash dishes while Mark heavily protested. When he was done the exhaustion started to settle in, the jet lag is wearing at him.
"Mark? Is it okay if I use your shower? I need to freshen up and it's a bit of a drive from here to get to my place." Mark looked up from the tv noticing the tired look in Jackson's eyes.
"Of course, the towels are in the hall closet. Use what you want to." He smiled sincerely to let Jackson know he truly was ok with it. With a thank you Jackson went to his car to get his bag and quickly went to shower.
Mark watched a little tv enjoying being able to relax some. He shuts his mind down to keep negative thoughts from swarming in there. He jumps a bit when he hears keys at his door but relaxes as he sees BamBam walk in. BamBam thinks nothing of him lying on the couch under a blanket and goes to pull Marks legs off so he can sit. He stops when Mark screams out in pain.
"Ya what did I do?" He looks over to Mark who's holding in his tears. When He can finally speak through the pain he tries to explain.
"This morning, I was hit by a car," Before he could even finish BamBam let's out a yelp.
"What? Are you ok? Why didn't you call me, I knew I should've drove you. We will sue that bastard." When he finally finished his rant Mark is giggling.
"I'm ok, it's just a sprained knee. It just hurts is all." BamBam was just about to respond when he hears faintly the shower shutting off and some clanging noises coming from the bathroom.
"Wait, did you let that son of a bitch in here? After what he did, and he's just showering like he owns the place? He broke up with you on your anniversary and you just let him back just like that?" Mark was taken aback by the anger in his voice but likes the overprotectiveness. He smiles warmly at his nephew, knowing he cares deeply for him.
"No." He whispers. "It's the guy who hit me." BamBam is shocked his jaw practically hit the floor.
"Why would you..." He couldn't even finish his sentence when a familiar voice called down the hall. BamBams ears perked up.
"Mark? Are you okay? I heard you scream." Jackson said with great concern but stopped in his tracks when he laid eyes on his best friend. BamBam jumped up and ran to him, practically knocking him over in a tight embrace.
"Jackson, I've missed you so much!" He shouts. He lets go smiling at his friend when he starts frowning and slapping Jackson on his arm.
"Ow what are you doing?" Jackson whined. Mark was watching the interaction with both amusement and concern.
"Why did you hit my uncle with your car? How careless could you be?" He's yelling out with the "Your an idiot tone".
"Hey hey, Bam stop it. It was my fault and even if it wasn't, it was an accident. He drove me to the hospital and has taken really good care of me, so be nice." Mark said with some authority to his voice. BamBam sighed and apologized to Jackson. He sat and listened to the whole story before suggesting that he leave for the night. He quirks a brow at Jackson for not wanting to leave yet but chalks it up to him feeling guilty. So he allows Jackson to stay and help Mark get to bed.Mark tried to protest again but when that swooping feeling in his stomach erupted when Jackson picked him up again to take him to bed he quickly shut his mouth. He rather enjoys this side of Jackson. The strong caretaker, the way he caters to his every need or want without being asked. He found himself smiling fondly, not noticing he was staring at the man until Jackson looked right into his eyes. His steps halted as he was mesmerized by THE Mark Tuan, his best friends uncle, a man he's known when he was still just a child. Not once in his thought process did he see anything wrong with that scenario but he's pretty sure Mark would be uncomfortable about it.
"C-can you open the door? My hands are a bit full." Mark laughs at his little joke and nods, still holding eye contact for some reason.
Finally after the staring contest went on long enough Mark giggled again.
"Can you take me to the door? Or was I suppose to jump down now?" He questions with mirth in his eyes, Jackson finally snaps out of it and with slightly reddened cheeks walks over to Marks bedroom door. He reaches his hand to the knob and opens it while still in Jackson's arms. He sets him gently on the bed and offers to get him some bed clothes, Mark chuckles and says he can do it if Jackson just gets his crutches.
"I want to shower so thank you for today. You've been really helpful and I appreciate it." Mark says kind of awkwardly. Jackson smiles but then pouts his lip out.
"Here I was going to tuck you in"
"Sorry to disappoint you but I'm smelly so I need to go. Should I walk you out or?" Jackson smiles thoughtfully and walks up to Mark and pulls him into a tight hug.
"I'm really happy to see you again Mark. I've missed it here, Bam, the city and..." He pauses for a moment enjoying holding Mark in his arms.
"You." He finishes quietly. Mark tenses a little in his arms as Jackson says this, trying to figure out if it means more than face value but decides against it. They separate slowly and Mark turns to gather his things while Jackson heads to the door.
"See you around, bye Mark.""Goodnight, and thank you again." Jackson nods and leaves the room smiling from ear to ear.
