"Jack?" Elizabeth repeated still awaiting a response to her exciting news.
"Elizabeth, that's incredible news! Perfect timing too!" Jack exclaimed.
"Do you think the new house will be ready for the baby's birth?" Elizabeth asked.
"Depends on Lee's men, and when the house can be completed, but it should be done, yes." Jack answered.
"Jack this is so exciting." Elizabeth shrieked with joy.
"I can't wait to start a family with you! This couldn't have been a more perfect time..." Jack replied smiling at Elizabeth lovingly.
"I'm so glad you're excited about the news, I was scared you would think this was a bad time...." Elizabeth confessed.
"There is never a more perfect time," Jack assured reaching across the table and taking Elizabeth's hand in his, "I'll speak to Lee tomorrow at his office and see if he can prioritize the construction of our new home to ensure it's ready when our child arrives."
"The both of you are going to be wonderful parents. Congratulations," Abigail praised.
"Thank you, Abigail. You are a great friend," Elizabeth thanked.
"You are a great friend also, and will be an even greater mother. Now, you and Jack should probably return home. You both need to work early tomorrow. I also promised Cody I'd tuck him in," Abigail suggested.
"Thank you so much Abigail. Goodnight," Elizabeth replied.
Abigail smiled at Jack and Elizabeth as they walked out the front door of Abigail's Café.
Jack and Elizabeth didn't want the word to spread too soon that she was pregnant. There are many complications that can come with pregnancy. A lot of mothers have many complications. Jack and Elizabeth walked back through town to their row house. Other than smiling at each other lovingly, there wasn't much to speak about. The only thing on both of their minds was their future endeavors in parenthood.
Once in the comfort of their own home, Elizabeth expressed her concern, "Jack, would we be converting the extra bedroom into the baby's room? We're not exactly well off financially, so when our new house is finished, and we move in... Why spend money on the baby's room twice?"
"We'll need to at least fix the room up for our baby to have a crib." Jack answered, "Also, just in case Lee and his men run into some binds during construction."
"Alright, I'll pay a visit to Ned at the Mercantile tomorrow to see if he knows someone who can deliver a crib." Elizabeth informed.
Jack smiled. He was just about to say something more, when there was a knock at their front door.
Jack opened the door to Rosemary who invited herself inside.
"Good evening Rosie," Jack greeted.
