Jane modestly tied her straight brown hair back with a thin hair tie. She sighed, it was the same look every day
she was sick of it, she knew it had to change. She yearned to be unique, to wear daring and exciting things. Jane had a friend like this, she looked up to her for it.
In fact Jane proposed that they both go to the mall so that Jane could hopefully not be so dreadfully plain. For the next hour they chatted and strolled along as nothing had caught Jane's attention yet. Not long after her boring brown eyes wandered onto something unique, something that was perfect to show off her individuality.Jane turned to her friend for approval. An eager nod of her friend and a couple pennies later she then had possession of the most interesting thing she had ever seen.
Later that night Jane could barely sleep far to excited to wear the beautiful piece she had bought earlier on. She thought of how happy she was to be able to look even the slightest bit unique. It was amazing how much the object meant to her, it brought great joy.
Monday, a fresh start to the week and the first day Jane would finally look different to her boring self. She skipped to the place where she always sat with her friends to see something gut wrenching. It was her friend, wearing the exact piece as Jane. Her friend smiled unaware of Jane as the others gushed over the new piece of jewellery. She ceased to a halt, her emotions swirling around her in a vicious storm. In that one moment Jane's hope at being unique was washed down the drain.
i guess once a plain Jane, always a plain Jane.
