Jisoo's POV
I walked to my favorite bakery in the city. I went there often. Their chocolate cakes are the best in the country. Even the cooks at the palace, they can not make a chocolate cake that good. Maybe it is the chocolate that's different. Or maybe it's the other ingredients they used that is making the cake tastes so divine. I can never forget how it tastes.
I opened the door to the bakery and shouted at the worker there, "Yeri, I'm back! The usual, pleasee...!"
"Look, who we got here? The Princess decided to grace my bakery with her presence. What can I get you, beautiful princess?" It wasn't Yeri that greeted me at the cash register. It was my father's new architect, Kim Seokjin. What is going on? What is he doing here? Shouldn't he draw a palace or a guest house or something?
"What are you doing here?" I was so surprised to see him here that I can't control my expression.
"Yeri has a family emergency so I'm replacing her as a good owner." He told me with a smile and a wink.
"So it's you? The good-looking owner? Yeri always said to me that the owner of this bakery is good looking." I told him. I try to put my expression back to normal.
"Did you just said that I'm good looking?" He asked me bewildered.
"You know you are. One chocolate cake, please.." I told him nonchalantly. I said what I usually order and took a seat at one of the tables.
"Are you going to eat the cake here or you want me to pack the cake for you?" He asked me again from behind the counter. I never bring the cake back to the palace.
Another reason I like this bakery is that the interior of this cafe. It's warming, welcoming and feels like home. I never have a home. Being a princess my whole life, I never tasted how it feels like to live my life in a homey-home. In a small house with all of your family next to you so close to each other. Don't get me wrong, my family is close but our palace is too big and extravagant to feel like a..... home.
Also, the reason I like the city because I can escape and pretend to be a regular citizen. I talk to my people with ease and hear their life stories. I was a teenager when my father let me go to the city by myself. After he made sure, I was able to protect myself. They were treating me more like royalty than a regular person at the beginning. They still are but they loosen up a lot lately. I have to get closer to them from them to see me as a normal person rather than a princess. I'm glad they were able to let me in.
I always asked them about their daily lives. They told me stories about their families. After I heard their stories, I realized it was so much different than my life as a princess. Deep down in my wildest dream, I want to live their life. I never told anybody about this. Even my friends.
"I'll eat it here," I told him. I chose one of the tables and took a seat.
"Perfect. I'll be your company then." He said. He took my chocolate cake from the counter and took a seat in front of me. He put the plate in front of me and a glass of milk then he said, "Here we go. A delicious chocolate cake for a beautiful princess and this is fresh milk to quench your thirst."
"Thank you. So other than the owner of a bakery and is the King's architect, what else can you do?" I asked him directly wanting to know more about him.
"Baking is a hobby for me. This bakery is actually my mom's. She passed away two years ago. I changed it up a little bit and passed it to Yeri. My job is drawing houses and building." He told me with a smile on his face.
I know the owner before him. She was a nice lady. I decided to always come all the way from the palace to eat every delicacy that she made after I tasted her chocolate cake. Two years ago, I never saw her anymore. I did not know what happened to her. I asked everyone who I think they might know something but nobody heard a thing. The lady disappeared. The bakery was close for months. When it was opened again, the interior has changed and I found Yeri. Yeri told me about his mother and him without explaining to me who he is. She just said that he was really good looking.
