Prologue

Amarissa checked her surroundings with a confused look on her face. She looked to her left and she saw her parents talking in hushed whispers, she looked to her right and she saw her seven year old sister looking around.
She tapped her mother lightly and asked where they were, her mother just smiled and looked away.
''Dave we need to cross the border right now, we can't risk getting caught'' her mother said.
''Calm down, we'll soon get there.'' replied her father
Being the smart child she was, she knew something was wrong . Her suspicions were confirmed when she saw a troop of men blocking their path. She looked over at her parents and she could see the fright and guilt etched across their faces.
Her mother walked over to her and said ''Amarissa, take good care of Esmeralda your father and love you dearly''. Her mother handed her a locket which had a picture of all four of them in it.
Her parents were put into one vehicle while she was put in another vehicle with her little sister.
That was the day her whole life fell apart.
