Speechless

"Are you alright?" the nurse asks

I shake my head

"Oh. what's wrong?" she asks

I rise and then lower my shoulders.

"Can you talk?"

I shake my head

"But you just said you could" Cassidy says

I shrug.

"Do you want a pen and paper?" the nurse asks

I nod

'I tried to say hey to you Cassidy, but it wouldn't come out'

"Oh" she says.

"Do you need me to take you to another room?" she asks

I nod

"Do you want me to come too?" Will asks

I nod taking hold of his hand.

He looks down and then looks back up and meets my eyes and smiles and them the nurse and us walk out of the room.

"Room 618" she says

"Thank you" Will says

"You're welcome" she says and goes back to Cole's room

We walk in and I sit on the bed

Another nurse comes in not even after 5 minutes.

"Hi. I'm Emma your nurse! what's wrong?" she says smiling through the whole thing

"She can't speak" Will says

"When did this start happening?"

"A few minutes ago. before that she could talk fine"

"Oh."

She asks a bunch more questions and then goes and gets the doctor

"Hi I'm Dr. Phillips"

"Hi" Will says for both of us

I just nod

"Can't speak" Will says before the doctor can say anything

"Oh. I'll be back with your results"

He leaves and Will grabs my hand.

"Everything will be okay. I promise" he says over and over.

I tap his head and point to paper and a pen

He gets them.

'Are you trying to convince me or you?' I write.

"I don't know" he says and just lays his head on my arm.

'Everything will be okay. I promise'. I write

He smiles

The doctor comes back in with a worried look on his face.

"What's wrong?" Will asks getting worried too

"Ellie... you'll never speak again"
