“Honeymoon reminds me of you.”
You’re in your kitchen that night washing dishes as Cara dries them when she says it.
You look at her curiously.
“Sorry?”
“Phoenix’s Honeymoon reminds me of you.”
You grin.
“I showed you that song.”
“And I thank you for that.” She nods and pecks your cheek. “It’s brilliant.”
“Bravo, though, love. I thought you only liked those awful rap songs you’re always listening to. See? I’m a good influence on you.”
She smacks your bottom and pokes her tongue out at you.
“Why does it remind you of me?” You ask her when she’s reaching for something in the cabinet.
“I don’t know why exactly.” She explains as she takes a plate from your hands, “Whenever I hear it I always think of it as a song that’d be at the end of a film with a happy ending.”
You stop what you’re doing. She’s not looking at you so you wipe your wet hands on your trousers and pull her chin to you. You kiss her lips ever so gently and linger. When you pull away, you simply smile and don’t say anything else.
Words are redundant around her.
