When Dovewing (Dovepaw at the time) heard the strange brown animals (beavers) that were blocking the stream, she only told a few cats. Firestar eventually got wind of her story, and when Lionblaze questioned him about it in The Fourth Apprentice, Firestar replied by saying: "StarClan might have sent her a dream, I suppose."
The Guide claims that Jayfeather told Dovewing to pretend she dreamt of the beavers, when Dovewing did not even tell Firestar that herself. He obviously knew something was going on, but the fact that this "dream" came from "StarClan" was something that Firestar said all on his own. Why even bring Jayfeather into this when he had nothing to do with it?
