I forced my gaze off of his lips and back to his eyes. That may have been a bad thing, his eyes were easy to get lost in. Suddenly a pair of hands were in my face. "Earth to Via, hello?" Cameron waved his hands in front of my eyes. We had stopped near the ice rink bench. "Sorry, I was lost in my thoughts." I grinned, sitting down on the bench. Cameron joined me. "Where would you go," I whispered, "if.. if you did go to university?"
He thought about it for a minute. His lips went into a thin line when he was deep in thought. "Probably UBC or something, I don't really know." Cameron changed the subject.
"So," He looked towards the ice, watching the skaters go by. "What kind of random shit do I say when I'm wasted?" I blushed a bright pink colour. Well, I couldn't see it, but damn right I could feel it. "Well," I looked down at my skates, "They were something. But let's save them for a rainy day, shall we?" I smirked, knowing Cam couldn't wait that long. "C'mon," he groaned, I just laughed.
Suddenly my mouth disconnected from my brain.
"Would you.. consider this.. like.. a date?" I looked up at Cameron.
Shit, what am I doing?
Cameron raised his brow, "I dunno, I thought it was more like a friend thing-" I nodded quickly,
of course we're just hanging out you idiot, what more could this be? You always have to go and ruin things for yourself, Via. Keep your mouth shut.
I shook away my thoughts to myself and got up to skate again, Cameron got up as well. He held is hand out for me but I brushed it away, skating without the comfort of his hand."The ice rink is closing soon, we better start moving out." Cameron pointed to the clock, it was getting late. "Wow, time really can fly." I slowed down my skating pace, moving towards the exit. There weren't too many people left, just a family of three and a woman skating. Cameron followed behind me as we got off the ice.
"That was fun," Cameron untied his skates, we found a seat of a bench by the door. "Yeah, I'll remember to bring a jacket next time." I laughed. The knot in my skates untied and I easily slipped them off. "So, when do you start hockey again?" All I wanted was to make a conversation. I loved seeing his eyes light up whenever we talked about hockey or family.
I really did."Well," we got into my car. There he went, his beautiful blue eyes had stars, I wish I could make him as happy as his favourite sport made him. I had only been working with him for a month and yet, I knew inside that I was falling for him.
The problem was, he didn't feel the same.
He was going to forget about me when hockey season started.
And I would be forced to forget him."And then we have playoffs start if we do well, I'm so sure we're gonna make it this year." Cameron rambled as we drove back to his house. The sun was disappearing from the sky and darkness was creeping in. I gripped the wheel tightly as Cameron spoke, I was feeling a little off ever since we left the rink, I couldn't exactly put a finger on why.
"Via, hello? Viola Jonston?" Cameron snapped his fingers in my face, I felt myself being pulled from the state of mind I was in. "I'm sorry, I'm just really tired." I lied, feeling guilty not long after. Cameron shrugged and laid back in his seat, putting his hands behind his neck. I turned onto the street Cam lived on, realizing our drive was coming to an end. "What are you doing tomorrow?" He asked as I rolled into his parents' driveway. "Dunno, why?" I muttered, earning a shocked expression from Cam. "Dunno," he mocked, I shot him a look. "I wanna hangout with you more." He smiled and looked into my eyes.
"Right, we totally don't work together." I rolled my eyes, still feeling a little off. "Well, yeah. But I mean like us hanging out." Cam looked out the window as he talked. "When you work, you really work. Your head is totally focused on everything you do. Whether it's making coffee or.." Cameron turned around to face me and blushed, he scratched the back of his neck. "Anyway, I should get going, don't text me or anything." He joked and opened the door of my car. "See ya Monday, I guess." He smiled and shut the door.-
I fell onto my bed face-first, I couldn't figure out what was wrong with me.
"No, no, no, no, no. Not again." I groaned and turned onto my back, my arms fell into the sides of my bed.
"I can't be falling again, this can't be happening." I looked up at clock on my wall, it was getting late. I felt my eyes slowly close as my mind started to shut down.- - - - - - - - - -
