Two days ago, Josh promised his "little" boy, Tyler, that since he had been so good and patient that week -Josh had to work extra hours that week - that on his day off they'd go to the park to play. They lived in a pretty small and quiet town, so they were sure no one would be there.

The day they went was a chilly Friday afternoon. Josh made sure Tyler wore something appropriate for the 55 degree weather. Even though Tyler wanted to wear his unicorn t-shirt, Josh convinced him to wear a sweatshirt over it to prevent him from shivering like mad. When it came to temperature Tyler was pretty sensitive.

They walked to the park because Josh didn't feel like driving two minutes in the car. It was pointless. He walked with Tyler's hand in his. Tyler swung their hands up and down while he skipped instead of walked.

"Dada, you're borin'. You jus' walkin'. Look at me! M'skippin'! M'being fun! You betta be fun when we get'ta the park!"

Josh smiled at how adorable Tyler was being. The younger usually said some random stuff out of the blue. Which Josh adored.

"Yep, my pretty little boy is being silly and skipping to the park! And I'm not boring just because I'm walking!" Josh said through a wide smile. Tyler stuck his tongue out at the man giggling. Josh would usually reprimand him for doing that, Tyler knew better. But since he had been so well behaved and patient the past week with Josh working 9:00-8:00 instead of 9:00-4:00, and working 6 days instead of his regular 4, he let it slide.

When they arrived at the park they realized that there were two children, about 5 and 8 years old, with their parents already playing and hanging around.

"No, no, noooo!" Tyler whined, letting go of Josh's hand and stomping his feet. "I wanna play now!! I don' wanna wait!!! Make them leave!!" He huffed, tears welling in his eyes, a few spilling onto his cheeks. Josh just sighed in response.

"Little one," Josh said quietly, taking Tyler's hands in his. Making Tyler turn to him and whine. "I promise that you and I will get to play together, okay? I don't think they'll stay long. So, for now, how 'bout we sit on the swingy bench and cuddle a bit until they leave. Is that okay with you, Tyty?"

Tyler pouted, slightly nodding his head. "B-but I wanna pway now... I haven' seen you this week at all... I wanna pway wif you...! I've missed you, Dada!" His voice was barely above a whisper at this point. Josh sighed, his heart aching.

It was true, Tyler barely got to see him before he had to go to bed. His bedtime was at 8:45. It usually took half an hour for Josh to get Tyler ready for bed, if he was lucky, twenty minutes. Josh pulled the younger's head to his chest. He nuzzled his head into Tyler's hair.

"I've missed you too, darling," he pulled Tyler away and bent down a slight bit so their eyes were level. "I've missed you too. But today is our day, we can do whatever you want. And you know what?" He asked.

"What?" Tyler questioned, pulling his hoodie's sleeves over his hands and wiping his cheeks.

"Well, like I said, we can do or go whatever and wherever you want. We could even go to Target if you'd like," Tyler's face lit up at the mention of going shopping. Josh noticed this and chuckled. "But that's besides the point. Since you've been such a great, great boy this week. I've changed your bedtime to 10:30. But only for tonight. How would you like that? Get to spend more time with Dada?"

Tyler smiled. He looked over at the kids, then back at Josh.

"I wanna go and cuddle on the swingy bench 'till they weave, Dada." He muttered, pointing to where he wanted to be. Josh nodded, with Tyler's hand in his, they walked over the the bench.

Josh sat down on the bench, Tyler sat next to him. After a few seconds Tyler shifted himself on to Josh's lap. Josh noticed that the car had an out of state license plate, they must be tourists. Tyler laid back on the elder, nuzzling his head into the latter's neck. And within a few more minutes, the tourists were gone.

"Baby, they're gone, whaddya wanna do?"

Tyler sprung his head up, his face bursting with happiness because he gets to play with Josh.

"I wanna..." he scans the playground, even though it hasn't changed for years. "I wanna do... monkey bars!" He hops off of Josh, running onto the gravel to get to the yellow monkey bars. Josh got up to follow his little boy.

"Dada, need help." Tyler says, trying to reach the monkey bars without being on the step.

Josh smiled for the hundredth time that day. He rested his hands under Tyler's arms.

"One, two,"

"Three!" Tyler squealed.

Josh lifted Tyler up onto the yellow bars. Tyler grabbed them, making himself swing ever so slightly. The orange haired man let go of Tyler, causing him to scream softly.

"No! Hold me! I don' wanna fall!" He wailed. Josh complied and rested his hands on Tyler's hips. Tyler only went over about 5 bars before he fell. Josh caught him and held him close. Their faces were pressed against each other's. A moment of silence fell between the two, before Tyler started to giggle. Josh grinned at how adorable and innocent his baby was.

Next was the seesaw, Tyler practically fell off because he was bouncing so much.

"Tyler," Josh gave as a warning. "Don't keep doing that! You're going to get hurt! And I don't wanna deal with you being hurt on my day off, please."

Tyler nodded, figuring if he can't bounce as much as he could, he'd get off and do something else.

"Dada? Can you push me on the swings?"

"Of course I can."

Tyler went and sat on a swing, waiting to be pushed. Josh took his time, already exhausted from Tyler running across the playground for almost an hour. Once he finally reached his destination, he grabbed the swing by its chains and walked backwards. He took a deep breath and ran forward, ducking beneath Tyler's legs. He stumbled on the gravel, scraping his hands, but it was all worth it when he looked up.

Tyler was flying high on the swings. He was laughing so hard that is cheeks were turning red. The grey hoodie he was wearing was flapping against the wind.

Josh got up to admire how gorgeous Tyler looked. It had only been a week of not seeing Tyler regularly, but it felt like months. Josh patted his slightly bloody hands on his pants. Tyler never stopped laughing. These days were what the couple cherished most. Days where they were themselves, days where they didn't seem to have a care in the world, days that seemed like they would never end.

"Hey, baby?" Josh half yelled, walking to right in front of Tyler.

"Wha?" The smaller boy half yelled back, his laughter not stopping.

With perfect timing, Josh leaned in and gave a small peck of a kiss on Tyler's lips.

"I love you."
