Week one of school is about to start, and a lot has happened over summer break,
Like getting a new neighbour for instance. His name was Luke Hemmings. He had baby blue eyes and blonde hair that was always styled in a quiff. But the one thing that never leaves my mind is his lip ring.
I'll be honest, I was scared to approach him. He seemed too amazing for me. And that didn't bother me, because I was used to it. Well it didn't bother me until I found out he was going to the same high school as me. I was just leaving my house as he did too, at first I thought it was a coincidence that he was leaving the same time as me until he started walking beside me.
"Hey, you're Rachel right?"
His voice was low and raspy and it took me a while to realise he was talking to me
"Uh, yeah, yeah, that's me, you're Luke?"
He smiled and nodded I must've sounded stupid.
"So do you go to PineWood high?" He asked looking down at me. Only then did I realise how tall he was.
"Yeah, you?"
"Um, that's actually my new school" he let out a breathy laugh before adding
"I used to go to Casebrook"
My eyes widened
"Casebrook?! But that's, like, the hardest school to get into!"
He laughs as he scratched the back of his neck.
"Yeah, it's, uh, a little too advanced for me though"
"What? Did you get kicked out or something?"
He looks ahead of us and kicks a stone out of his way.
"Not exactly"
I could tell he was nervous for some weird reason and I knew I should've changed the subject but all I could do was look at him, and he was staring back at me, I quickly turned away.
After a few minutes of silence I saw the school.
"Here it is I guess"
He looked around like a lost puppy and I giggled.
"What?"
"N-nothing" I stuttered shaking my head
His eyes which were warm and caring now seemed cold and glassy.
He looked down at me sadly.
"Sorry" he said quietly,
"I don't mean to be so mean."
"It's, it's fine, don't worry about it."
He looked around at everyone and even he could tell everyone was staring at his beauty.
"So do you want me to show you around or...?" His face lit up at my request
"Oh yes please, it'd be nice if I knew someone"
I smile and he shows me his timetable.
My smile instantly turns in to a frown but I cover it up.
"Oh great, you're in most of my classes" he grins and his eyes return back to warmth.
If there's anything wrong with that, it's that I'm already falling for him despite the awkwardness from before, I can't even talk to him with out staring at his face taking in every perfect thing about it.
