RN: IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU AWAKE, PILOT. THE TIME IS SIX IN THE MORNING AND YOU HAVE TO REPORT TO BEACON CLIFF FOR INITIATION. GOOD LUCK AND DON'T EAT SOMETHING POISONED.

I yawned and sat up. No one else was up, aside from Weiss Schnee, who was prettying up her long hair. I stood up, slung my bag over my shoulder, and cleaned up my mess. Making sure my hood was still up, I walked to the locker rooms where I could store my sleeping items.

Opening my locker, I noticed Jaune walking past, counting lockers. I stopped him.

"What are you doing?"

"Looking for my locker! I couldn't have stored my stuff in locker 636 yesterday, that's ridiculous!"

I chuckled and led him to the locker next to mine. "There you go, buddy. And hey, wanna spar later today? I think we can both use the practice."

He looked at me. "What?"

I smiled sheepishly. "I'm not too good with my sword.... but awesome with the shotgun!"

I pulled out my weapons and clipped the sword to the left side of my bag while my shotgun rested in my hands. Jaune gazed at my weapons.

"Cool. Do they do anything special?"

"Well, the sword can electrify and if I swing hard and fast enough, it'll send a wave of electricity. The shotgun........ is just a shotgun."

Jaune smiled and left to..... flirt with Weiss. Just saying dude, wrong pick. I walked past them, but Weiss pulled me into the conversation none the less.

"Do you know who you're talking to, you two?!?"

Jaune smiled. "No, not in the slightest, snow angel."

I facepalmed. Really Jaune? "No, Weiss, I don't. BECAUSE I WASN'T TALKING TO ANY OF YOU!!!"

I stormed off and RN tried to play therapist.

RN: NOW THAT YOU HAVE VENTED YOUR ANGER, WAS THAT NECESSARY?

Yes, RN. Absolutely.

I arrived at the cliff and Glynda told me to stand in a specific spot. Once everyone gathered, Ozpin gave another speech.

"For years you have spent honing your skills. Today, those skills will be tested in the Emerald Forest. You are to head north to the ancient forest temple and claim a relic. Once accomplished, head back here and we will guard your relic, along with your standing, with the utmost care. You will meet opposition along the way. Do not hesitate to destroy them, or you will die."

Jaune and I let out nervous chuckles.

Glynda took Ozpin's place. "Now some of you have been hearing rumors of teams. Let us put an end to such confusions. You will be assigned teams. Today."

Ruby seemed to be shocked.

"You will also be paired with someone for the rest of your time here at this academy."

Ozpin smiled and stepped in. "It is in your best interest to be paired with someone you can work well with for four years. That being said, the first person you make eye contact with once landing shall be your assigned partner."

Ruby's world practically shattered. That or she's playing drama queen. "WHAAAAT?!?"

I gulped. Let's just hope my team isn't like almost everyone else.

I heard what sounded like contained explosions and looking to the left, I saw the pads sending students flying. I groaned.
