Hazel rubbed her eyes, "I'm so fucking tired."

"That's because you were out all night with that boy." I teased her, leaning against the wall in the almost empty hallway. It was lunchtime so everyone was either in the cafeteria or outside.

Hazel smirked, "Shut up it wasn't all night. After school I'm going straight home and taking a nap."

"You can't because you gotta work on your project at Taliyah's house." I reminded her.

She rolled her eyes "Ugh don't remind me I can't believe I have to go to her house."

"I know good luck with that."

"How was it working with that boy yesterday? I forgot to ask you."

I sighed "His name is Kalin and we didn't work on anything together because he didn't show up."

"Wow that's fucked up. He's probably a dummy like most of the boys on the basketball team."

I shrugged "I'll probably just do the whole project by myself."

"No! Don't do all the work yourself it's not a solo project that nigga better help you and if he don't tell Ms. Tanner on his ass."

I sighed, "Yeah you right." The project was honestly too much for one person to do alone. "Do you wanna get something to eat?"

"No."

"Well I do. Let's go get food."

She took a bag of hot cheetos out her backpack and tossed them to me, "I told Trey that we'll hang out together during lunch today."

I slightly pouted, "So you're leaving me by myself?"

"Hell no. I told you I wouldn't do that shit I already told him you was coming."

"Oh." I really didn't want to be a third wheel with Hazel and her new friend. I already know I'm going to feel weird and awkward.

"Please Ken. I promise you won't be a third wheel we're just gonna all be hanging out." She said as if she was reading my thoughts.

"Fine." I said, opening the bag of chips.

Hazel jumped up and grinned, "Okay come on he's waiting outside by the basketball court."

"You the lead the way." I munched on my Cheetos while following her outside.

Once we got outside and I spotted Trey sitting alone at one of the picnic table I didn't really understand what Hazel liked about him. I know it's not good to judge a book by it's cover but I couldn't help but think that he was up to no good.

"How old is he?" I asked Hazel, it was hard to believe that Trey was 17 or 18 like the rest of us.

"20."

I was shocked "Twenty?! How is he 20 years old and still in high school?"

Hazel smacked her lips "He got held back twice damn don't be rude."

"Does he have a job?"

"He's the plug, Kennedy."

Before I could Hazel what that meant she damn near skipped over to Trey. "Hey you." She cheesed while sitting across from Trey.

"Wassup." He licked his lips and smiled at her.

"This is my friend Kennedy."

"Hi." I said shyly while I sat next to Hazel.

Trey took his eyes off Hazel and looked at me "Nice to meet you." He said before looking at back at Hazel.

They began to have their own little conversation, I checked my phone seeing an unread text from my dad.
