I ran trying to find shelter. The beast was closing in on me. I stopped running when I realized I was at a dead end. I had nowhere to go. It was falling off the cliff and dying or getting sliced by the beast. The beast sprang up to attack. At the last second I turned and jumped. I woke with a cold sweat. I realized I had been crying. My mom came running into my room. "Jason, are you ok?" she asked. "No", I replied telling her about my dream. For a moment her faced creased with worry. Then she was smiling again. My mom was always like that, even though the worst things happened to her. First when she was four, her parents had left her to live on her own. She hid in the alleys, away from people, police, and the outside world. She had found old homeschool books in the dumpsters and tried to learn, she ate leftover food people had thrown in the dumpster. Then, she met my father. She she he was the most handsome man she had ever met. But, after she found out she was pregnant with me, he left. It has always been me and my mom. She works at a grocery store, but still manages to pay bills, buy food, and send me of to school (sadly). See, I told you. "Jason, how about you and I go to Sandy Shores? she asked. "Okay," I agreed. Sandy Shores was our code name for a private spot on the beach. We packed and left without a word.
