On a dark, summer night, where lights dash the sky,
When the tide is low and people are nigh,
A merman sits in the shallows of the lagoon,
Longing, yearning, for the man in the moon.Knowing little of the other,
They sit and stare,
Manny chuckling as breezes ruffle the mermans hair.
Soft and delicate, tender and bright,
Whispering melodies into the dying night.Parting for long, until the moon is one,
Returning every full moon, to cast light over the lagoon.Steadfast companions and faithful lovers, their affections bare and never uncovered.
Hidden from myth, legend and tale,
Almost as if they met in a forgotten vale.On a dark summer night, where lights dash the sky,
When the tide is low and the people are nigh,
A merman sits in the shallow of the lagoon,
Longing, yearning for the man in the moon.

PoetryI still find it hard to sleep, am I too hungry and need to eat? I lay here, tossing and turning. What is my heart yearning? I switch on the light and begin to write, perhaps words will put me to sleep tonight... [More original poems by me]
