"You don't die from a broken heart. you only wish you did."
It feels good to be back in once own country, but the feeling of being at home would have only enhanced if she was in her own village, in her own home filled with her annoying yet loving cousin brothers, her aunts & uncles. A home where she had grown up, a home where she has enthusiastically participated in all the function, a home where she has been worshiped like goddess Durga during her childhood. Exhaling deeply as the sudden feeling of homesickness enveloped her, she looked at her image in the mirror, her eyes were sparkling in happiness , she was grinning so widely that her cheeks hurt. She was dressed in a long golden skirt with black sleeveless blouse with golden embroidery on it, long earrings dangling from her ears, her lips painted in a light pink hue, her eyes outlined with kohl, a small black bindi resting on her forehead, her curly hairs cascading down her back. She was looking beautiful, smiling to herself she descended down the long rows of stairs & into the welcoming kitchen where she found her father cooking while her mother went through the newspaper shaking her head on some unpleasing news she read.
The other villagers could never understand her parents or their love for each other, In Zammindar families boys don't cook, they don't do all this women work but for her mother, her father could do anything for her mother. He is a strong & responsible man, who will bear the burnt of his decisions & never run away from his responsibility that's why he is the most loved head their village ever had. On the other hand, her mother may look like normal house wife to everyone who will cry after watching daily soaps & all, but in reality she was nothing like that no matter how much she & her father teases her mother about that, her mother is a strong women, the strongest women she had ever known. She could never beat her mother's thirst for knowledge or her acting skills or her perfect skills with a gun. She still hears stories in the village how her mother stood with rifle in her hand pointed towards a man who dared to play with the dignity of the women of the village, her mother was not scared of anything. She was a strong women with patriotism burning in her, after all her grandfather was a well known freedom fighter & her mother a cold hearten spy, who may or may not have even killed people to fulfill her aim. And sometimes it really astonish her to watch her mother & father live in perfect domestic bliss. She has never seen the cold, cruel & deadly avatar of her mother which the villagers has deemed as her goddess Kali avatar & she doesn't want too experience it too. As she stood in front of her father clearing her throat asking him about the food which he didn't tell her obviously, it was a surprise to her until he put the plate full of food in front of her. And she couldn't help but ponder whether the love b/w her & Rian will ever be as strong as her parents, will he ever stood up for her ambitions, her passions, her dreams as her father stood up for her mothers.
After breakfast she announced to her parents that she was going to go & meet her friend Mithali, her parents happily granted her permission as she happily skipped out of her house & towards the house of her friend Mithali, which was just few blocks away from her. She loved the pollution free air of the village & the greenery around her. She happily skipped towards her friend's house totally unaware of the disdain filled looks the villagers sent her way.
She entered her friends house & knocked the door, for several minutes nobody answered the door, she knocked again & after few minutes, her friend's mother opened the door, she greeted auntie respectfully while auntie reciprocated her greeting half heartily, she waited for auntie to call her inside but she didn't. So, she herself asked auntie about Mithali only to be told by auntie that they were urgently going somewhere & so she couldn't meet her. She reply it's okay to auntie & went away from there, shrugging off their odd behavior.
On the way to Rian's house, she called her parents informing them where she was going. She loved this place where she grew up. She loved her small world more than anything.
So, that's all for today
