A Little Karma

Mr. Brown was teaching us about Polynomials, but that's definitely not what I was thinking about when the fire alarm went off. And by the way, Karma can be crap.

"WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE!" Pretty little Betsy Simmons screamed.

Look, I won't say I'm an amazing person. Actually, screw that, I'm pretty sure I don't count as a person at this point.

"IT'S OK BETSY! I'LL HOLD YOU," Squealed Darla Hanks. But looking at THAT, who could blame me. Mr. Brown had already ran out of the room screaming bloody murder. I put my face in my palms. Why? Just why?

"WE'LL ALL HOLD YOU BETSY," Squeaked Chad Flemings. I think I'm gonna be sick. I got up, the fire alarms blaring in my face, and stormed out of the classroom. I know we're not supposed to leave without permission from the teacher, but I figured the school being on fire was an exception.

"WHERE ARE YOU GOING KITTY!?" Squealed Darla, but I was already long gone. I let the door slam behind me as I headed to the football field. I used to think fire drills were fun, get out of class, just talk for however long it was, then go back inside. But today it wasn't as fun as I thought it would be.

"Kitty!" Darla frantically waddled in her high heels after me.

"Kitty, you're not supposed to do that," She said with a pout.

"The school's on fire," I retorted. Still, no one was coming out of the building, maybe it went out or something.

"I knooooowwww, that's why we're supposed to stay inside." Yeah... Darla can be a dunce sometimes.

"If you stay in a burning building you'll get burned, Darla."

"Well out here we'll get burned by the sun." She put her hands on her hips, and gave me the 'got ya' face.

"So you get burned either way, Kitty." Sometimes she really had no idea what she was talking about.

"You got me, why don't you go back inside?" I had to hold back the malicious undertones. People were just barely coming out of the building. I saw two students helping a pale Mr. Brown onto the football field. Darla smiled, and perked up.

"Ok just don't get burned by the sun," She said, shuffling back to the door. That's when the principle walked up to me.

"Do you know what this is young lady," He said in that absurdly low voice of his. He was holding the timer I had Jerry-rigged earlier today. I can't believe I thought trying to burn down the school would be fun.
