Chapter 2
Gym class was such a pain in the ass. All of the boys would show off their skills in whatever we would have to play, and the girls would play dumb so the boys thought they were cute. I didn't do anything because I didn't care.
The gym staff decided today to let us play soccer or walk the track right next to it. I met up with my gym friend, Elise, and we walked. She was a talkative one. Cute, very cute, but sometimes I just zoned her out because she gave me headaches. This time, something caught my eye. I watched a sweaty Luke play soccer. He kicked the ball, and spun with grace. He said he was good at baseball, and obviously he was good at soccer too which annoyed me. The rest of the team would pass him the ball and he would kick the ball into the goal with all his might. Then, Luke stepped out of the game. He was hunched over, panting. I knew because his chest was moving so much. He ran his hands through his sweat-glazed hair, and peeled off his shirt. His tanned chest made me shiver. Although I hated him, he had a nice body. I wondered why he would think people want to see him like that. Before I could finish the rest of my internal rant, I ran into the fence separating the track and the field. I fell and landed on my butt. Elise gasped,
"Are you okay?"
"Oh yeah, I'm fine," I laughed. Elise helped me up as I heard more laughter beyond the fence. I looked and saw Luke.
"You okay?" He grinned. I mockingly waved, and continued walking with Elise. I hated him. His smart comment got me grouchy but I knew better than to take it out on someone as sweet as Elise. The whistle was blown, and everyone started towards the door to the locker rooms. I split with Elise and entered the pigsty that was the locker room. I tried not gagging as the horrid stench harassed my nostrils.
"You alright, there?"
"Ye-" I looked up, and saw Luke, sweaty and flushed. "Don't worry about it."
"Don't got to be so mean," Luke whined, sarcastically, "See me play?"
"No,"
I pushed his sweaty chest out of my way and continued walking. His sweat was on my fingers.

Later that week, I grew to dislike Luke more and more. His petty comments and gestures made me angry, but I didn't let him know. Although, I'm pretty sure he did.
Finally it was Friday and I was glad. Not only did I not have to be at school, but I didn't have to see or hear Luke. I filed out of the hellhole, and found my car in the parking lot. As I unlocked my car, I saw Luke walk by. It was my mom's. He grinned then said,
"Cute car."
I flipped him off, and got inside. I aggressively drove past him. He waved with a giant smile.

"Honey, what's wrong?" My mother said, letting herself in my room.
"My mom doesn't know how to knock," I didn't look up from my laptop on my chest as I laid down. My mom peeled my computer off of me, and sat on my bed.
"Come on, don't push me away. What's up? You seem grumpy," She caressed my cheek when I sat up.
"Nothing," I smiled.
"I've known you seventeen years, Emmett, don't bullshit me."
"Ugh," I groaned, "It's this boy."
"Is it a crush?" She grinned.
"Don't be a brat, mom," I said to brush her off, "I just think he's really annoying."
"Ah, I see now," She laughed, "Your temper was always the worst. You and your brother had that in common."
"Don't talk about him like he's dead, he just moved to Utah," I shrugged.
"Well, you shouldn't let some boy ruin your mood. Just remember who's the baddest son-of-a-bitch in that school," She laughed. I grimaced, then laughed at her,
"Stop watching sleazy television."
