Song: Rich Kids by New Medicine
---
I pretend not to notice his appearance although quite frankly it's a bit hard not to admit that he is the most interesting thing in the room. Not that there is a lot of interesting things within the room. For God's sake I hate baseball. If Benny messages me one more time about the party I will blow. This isn't just any other normal Friday night party. Although I wouldn't exactly call the Friday night parties normal. This was the last major party of the summer before school starts and I'm missing it. This time Benny was hosting the party due to her parents being away on some vacation. If Benny was throwing the party you were sure to have a good time. Hopefully depending on how long this dinner lasts I could still go afterwards. I turn to look at the boy who is still staring at television intently.
"It's impolite to stare," he says with a strong accent that I recognize as Australian him not even bothering to glance my way.
I roll my eyes with a slight blush covering my cheeks due to the fact that I was caught in the act. "Don't flatter yourself."
He now takes the time to turn his interest towards me by smirking. I instantly hope that he can't see the pinkness in my cheeks. The last thing I want is a stranger to see me flustered. Luckily the silence is broken by my mother calling that dinner is ready. He doesn't budge from his position just continues to stare at the television.
I grab my phone and shove in it's usual spot in my back pocket before addressing the rather hot boy. "I thought bandanas were my thing," I say giving an unamused look at the boy with curls that are pushed back by a bandana. I try to walk through the doorway but he is blocking my way. He smirks and leans in towards my ear, "I guess you thought wrong."
He instantly makes room for me to pass and I take the advantage to escape his glare. What is happening to me? I have blushed more within the last hour than I have my whole life. I blame it to his attractiveness. Once entering the kitchen I see a man with dark brown hair who appears to be mid fourties and a woman with blonde hair and a smile on her face. They are dressed casually with jeans and tees. You can't tell they are rich but anybody who is negotiating with my parents have money. I don't mean to sound like one of those rude rich kids but it's undeniably true that my parents are wealthy. My dad is an owner of a very successful bank and my mother is an owner of a popular salon. Living in a small town in Florida where everybody knows your name because you are the daughter of Mr. Phil Perski and Mrs. Katherine Perski is sometimes annoying. I moved here in the sixth grade and that's when I became the new girl who everybody wanted to be friends with. I was pretty for my age and I had money. That's when I became friends with Jennie. She was nice enough, pretty enough, and was popular. At that age all you want to be is popular. You want attention from everybody. Girls or guys, it doesn't matter but especially guys. I still get attention, I will always receive attention because of my parents and sometimes it bothers me but you can't pick your family.
I sit in the chair next to my mother across from Dave's son. I can't remember his name. I'm sure I'll find out soon enough. I see my father and Dave returning towards the table from the patio where they were discussing my mother's gardening skills. I must admit my mother is rather talented with plants. Everybody is seated and my mother has proved my point, she has once again went overboard with tonight's dinner. There is baked chicken, shrimp, porkchops, sushi, rolls, salad, tons of vegetables, fruit salad, and I'm sure there is desserts waiting to be served.
My dad introduces me to the our guests. He starts by introducing me to the older gentleman, "Liz this is Dave. Dave this is my daughter Liz." My mother scoffs at the use of Liz rather than Elizabeth. She even has the nerve to call him out. "Phil. It's Elizabeth." I laugh while my mother's cheeks turn red. My father continues to speak ignoring my mother's previous statement, "And this is his beautiful wife Anne and his son Ashton." I nod and say a greeting before continuing to pick at my food. My thoughts run to the attractive boy sitting across the table who is also picking at his food. So bandana boy does have a name. Ashton.
Thankfully dinner passes rather quickly with talk of bank investments and my mother's salon and other adultish stuff. I sneak a few glances at Ashton and he catches one of my glances and holds it which makes me look down at my plate embarrassed that I have been caught once again admiring his beautiful face. As always my parents feel the need to involve me in the conversation.
"Ashton will be going into junior year with you," my mother says looking at me with a look in her eyes that warns me to be polite.
"That's interesting," I say in the nicest sarcastic tone I can manage.
"Ashton you'll it love it here. There are lots of nice people and Elizabeth is always here if you need help adjusting," my mother adds looking at Ashton who has a smug look on his face.
"That's very sweet of you Mrs. Perski and Elizabeth," he says politely emphasizing on Elizabeth and smirks at me after my mother glances away.
I roll my eyes and pull out my phone and see a few new messages as always. My mother begins to clear the table with the help of Anne and my father continues to talk with Dave. My dad turns towards me, "You should go show Ashton the backyard maybe the pool."
I do my signature eye roll before saying, "Yeah. Sure."
I get up from my chair and look back to see Ashton following me with a smile on his face. I open the glass doors to the outside where you can see the beautiful outdoors. My mother really has put a lot of time into making the backyard look beautiful. I take a moment to look at Ashton who looks at the backyard clearly showing he is impressed with the beauty of it. I walk a few steps before I make my way to the fountain and look at the water falling. I look at Ashton who is also looking at the water.
"Do you always stare this much?" He says looking at me with a smirk and once again I am caught off guard and flustered. I don't even know how to respond but somehow I manage to and I instantly regret the words I say next. "No. Just at you."
A/N: I don't really know what to think of this chapter. I needed to get the introductions in and all that so it's a little boring. Thanks for reading! If you like what you are reading vote and comment! Please! I love seeing comments and votes. It makes my day.
