Mia's POV
It has already been 3 days and dad kept calling and leaving me messages asking where I have been and that we needed to talk but I ignored them. I didn't want to hear him talking he might lie again. I have been spending these days at Niall's house which I really enjoyed. Helping Maura (his mum) with the housework and I got to meet his nephew Theo who is so adorable. We didn't go out that much. Mostly we just spend time watching movies, cuddling and playing video games. His mother kept telling that I should go home to talk to dad and sort everything out. Niall also kept reminding me that I should because I already lost one of my parents and it's not too late to not lose the other one and he's right so he picked me up from work and we both went home to talk to dad. Niall wanted to come because he said that he wanted to be their for me if something happens.
"Mia. Is that you?" I heard dad calling me as I opened the door and when he saw me he came up on me and hugged me as if I returned home after half a year. Niall rubbed my back, giving me a look that I should start doing the talking.
"Where have you been? Why have you been ignoring my calls and texts?" he asked.
"Dad. I was at Niall's house and I ran off because, because I heard the conversation between you and Ellen. That you have been seeing each other before I moved to London and I got angry because you lied to me." I said to him. I wanted to yell, shout and get everything out of my chest but with Niall near me I remained calm. Dad sat down and ran his fingers through his hair.
"Sit down. Niall can you go outside I want to talk to her alon-"
"No it's fine. He's going to know anyway." I cut him off. We both sat down. I was hoping that he won't lie again.
"When you were about nine your mother and I were having some trouble, we argued alot." I looked down. I remember that but I always thought that they loved each other.
Dad took a deep breath and continued "I became friends with Ellen and she distracted me from my problems. Then one day she asked me if I wanted to go to this party she was having at her house."
"What? Did you think that you were still 18 and what did you say to mum?" I asked.
"Nothing we had this fight before so I ran off and went straight there. In the middle of the party I got drunk and in the morning I found myself in her bed." he said.
Now I was getting confused dad was nothing like this at all. He always taught us right and gave us the best advice.
"Anyway we started dating and after a while I realised I was still in love with your mother so I told Ellen that it would be the best if we stop seeing each other and I apologised to your mum but then after a year we started fighting again so your mother and I decided that it would be the best if your and her move to London and Joe and I stay here." he said.
"Hey I'm just going outside." Niall whispered. I knew he was getting uncomfortable so I let him go.
"But why out of all these places she chose London.?" I asked him. I have always thought about this and it's the perfect opportunity to ask this now.
"Well London was your mother's favourite place. She adored it so much and also because she didn't want to see me." he looked down. I knew he was hurt and deep down I can tell that he still has feelings for her even though she's dead now.
"And how did you end up with Ellen again?"
"After a month we bumped into each other and we started talking and seeing each other again. Mia look. I'm sorry I didn't tell you before. I know I made a mistake. I know that I cheated but even though your mother and I weren't perfect for each other I still think that she was the most gorgeous girl on earth and that kills me because I know that I can't be with her now." he said.
I stood up and went to sit next to him.
"Does Ellen make you happy?" I asked and he nodded.
"That's the important thing now. I understand now that I have heard the story and I'm sorry I left without saying anything." I hugged him.
Niall's POV
I had to leave. I had to give them sometime alone to talk so I waited for her outside. As I was waiting I received a call from a friend who's in the army.
"Hi Levi. Is everything okay? " I said wondering why he called me.
"No, maybe. I have good news and bad news." he said through the phone.
"Shoot" I said.
"The bad news is that I received a call that we have to fly to Afghanistan not this week the week aft-"
"WHAT?! But Summer hasn't finished yet and we supposed to be their next month." I said.
I couldn't believe it. I had so many plans to do with Mia and show her how much I love her before I fly to Afghanistan. My life is officially over. I have a bad feeling about this one. It's going to be harder than last year.
"The good news is that this is our last duty." he said sounding happy about it.
I can't wait to get this thing over with. 6 months sleeping in tents, hiding in the bushes trying to not get killed.
"Is everything okay?" I turned around and saw Mia. I nodded.
"Is everything okay with you and dad?" I asked her.
"Yeah. Thanks for encouraging me to come and talk to him. You're the best." she said. I hugged her. I wish that I would stay like this forever. Holding her.
Mia's POV
I'm so glad that everything is okay with me and dad. The only thing that is bothering me is him being with Ellen she's not his type but if it makes him happy than I have to respect that.
After talking to dad Niall and I decided to go to Mullingar Cafe were I worked to order some coffee or milkshake. I already worked in the morning so Courtney has to take over in the evening.
"Hi, Mrs.Hogwood." I waved at her. She waved back and smiled. She looked so busy. There weren't even a place to sit in the shop because it was full of people.
"Hi, sweetheart what are you going to order." Courtney said. "Two strawberry milkshakes." I said.
"Coming right up. Oh and this must be the boy who you are dating." she said. I nodded and thought he's my boyfriend now. He didn't even look at her. I have no idea why.
"Hey. I'm going to see if Mrs.Hogwood need anything. I'll be right back." I said to Niall.
Niall's POV
"Yeah. Go I'll go and try and find a table." I said to her. I didn't even look at Courtney. I'm trying to avoid her but she keeps coming up on me and talking to me.
"Don't even try and say hi" she said sarcastically and she kept walking behind me.
"I can't talk to someone that reminds me of my past." I said to her. She kept talking and I kept ignoring her.
"Oh. I heard that you're going to fly to Afghanistan the week after." That's what the only thing I heard her saying.
"How do you know that?" I asked.
"I happen to know everything. Have you told Mia yet?" I looked down.
"He haven't told me what?" I turn around and saw Mia. I didn't know what to say now it's not the perfect opportunity to say it to her. Courtney smiled and left. I grabbed Mia's hand and went to sit on the only table left there was and luckily she didn't ask again what I haven't told her.
