ContinuedA week later
You stood in front of your locker collecting your books for your next classes. From your peripheral vision you could see Lucas Finch glancing at you from where he stood with his friends. He was the most popular guy in school, known for his looks and his skills on the field not to mention the fact that he was a genius in almost everything.
You stepped away from your locker preparing to close it only to be slammed into by a passer by. Your books slipped from your arms falling to the floor and sliding into different directions.
Bending down to pick the books up, your eyes landed on a pair of dark shoes in front of you once you had finished. Lucas was holding one of your maths copies in his hand.
"Thank you" you gave him a tight lipped smile.
"No problem, that idiot should've watched where he was going but if he didn't I don't think I'd get the chance to talk to you" his charming smile would've made you swoon but you already had your eyes on someone else.
Your eyes glanced down at the maths copy that he was still holding. You took it gently from his hand.
"Why would you want to talk to me for?" you questioned shyly.
"What do you mean?" He frowned." Why wouldn't I talk to you Y/N" he flashed you his dazzling smile once again.
He knew your name
"I mean your pretty popular and I thought maybe-"
"That I wouldn't ever talk to you" you nodded your head in agreement making him sigh.
"Well I'm talking to you now aren't I?" He said.
You smiled softly at that. His eyes flickered down to your lips before they returned to stare into your own eyes.
"I just wanted to ask you if you could help me with something.." he nervously scratched the back of his head.
"Uh sure what is it?" You asked.
"I've been falling behind in (Your favourite Subject) class, due to the fact that I've been busy practicing for the debating and football-" he let out an awkward laugh before continuing." You're probably thinking why am I even asking for help since I'm known as a kinda genius in the school but I'm not really all that. I'm human too and I get lazy and I know that your the smartest one in Miss. Harrington's class so..." you gave him a small smile, noticing the blush rising on his cheeks.
"I'd love to help you"
He let out a sigh of relief.
"Thanks a lot, I can pay you if you'd like I honestly don't mind-"
"It's fine really, I'll be helping myself also since I need to revise and yeah.." you smiled.
"Okay that's great uh, we can study at my place if you don't mind or wherever" he said.
You nodded your head stupidly before realising you had to choose.
"Oh uh your place is fine" you rushed out.
"Great" he grinned. " I'll meet you at the front door when schools over" he said.
"Yeah okay" you replied.
"Well I'll see you later then.." he said before walking away from your locker, throwing a wave in your direction.
You sat down on the desk in the empty classroom. You didn't have a class at the end of the day so you decided that you'd pay Henry a visit. You weren't going to have him later on today since you'd agreed to help Lucas after school, so you were here to tell him.
You watched as he corrected papers on his desk, occasionally glancing up at you with an eyebrow raised in question.
"You've been very quiet" he noted, his attention still on the paper in his hand.
"Well, I've just been thinking that's all.." you replied.
"Penny for your thoughts?" he said.
You nervously bit down on your lip, wringing your hands together on your lap.
"You've said countless times that you'd..." your cheeks flushed in embarrassment. "That you'd do things with me and you haven't exactly fulfilled your promises" you murmured.
You heard the sound of his chair being pushed back. Peering up at him from underneath your eyelashes, you watched nervously as he approached you.
"Y/N-"
"I don't understand Henry?!" You pouted. " You always say I'm not ready but how do you know-" his hands gripped your waist.
"Because you're not ready Y/N, I don't want you to do something in the spur of the moment and then regret it. I want you to be completely ready, not half ready, not 80% ready, not 99% ready, I need you to be completely and utterly ready" he sighed.
You frowned.
"But I am?!" You huffed. You placed your hands on his arms, running them down his exposed skin due to the sleeves of his shirt being rolled up.
"Y/N don't do this now, we'll talk about it later-" you lightly pushed him away from you.
"Y-you always say that Henry!" You huffed. Sliding down from the desk you made a move to pass him but he stopped you. "You know what it doesn't even matter I can't come to class anyway-"
"Wait Y/N, what do you mean" his eyebrows scrunched in confusion.
"I have to tutor somebody today" you said.
"Who?!" He didn't seem happy about it, but at the same time you didn't know what he was feeling.
"I'm tutoring Lucas Finch at his place-" Henry let out a low scoff before chuckling humourlessly.
"You really think he asked you over to his place to study?" You frowned lowly at his comment.
"Like the way you did Henry?" You bit back.
There was a deep silence. Your glare softened upon seeing his guilty expression which was masked underneath his own steel like glare. His jaw tensed before releasing.
"I should go..." you whispered. And he let you.
You waited outside the entrance for Lucas, seeing students pouring eagerly out from the school and flooding the stairs below.
Your eyes landed on Henry who was entering his car. He stared at you momentarily before looking away from you, towards someone else.
"Y/N!" Lucas called.
You descended down the stairs before being enveloped into a side hug by Lucas, which surprised you.
"You ready?" He flashed you his signature smile.
You wordlessly nodded your head before Lucas guided you towards his car. His hand moved to your lower back as he did so.
When you glanced over his shoulder, you noticed that Henry was no longer there.
